Chytil will be traded, but not until the Summer.

The signing of Trocheck has made him expendable for the long term future of the team. But they don't have anyone to replace him at 3C for the remainder of this Season.

Sure, they can make another trade for a low budget 3C. But that's more assets going out, and Cap will already be tight with Kane coming aboard.

Still have to see how the mix of possible RW's they have (Lafrenière, Kakko, Kravtsov, Blais) performs over the Season. I know none of them are as good as Kane, but if they all drastically improve well enough, then they aren't under as much pressure to swing a big deal.

It feels like the Rangers should go for Both Toews and Kane with a 3rd party taking another 50% it's really not a lot of money. Heck, you could have two different teams each eating 50%.

Toews is toast. Not worth giving up major assets for. Especially if a 3rd team needs to be involved to take on more Cap. We'll just focus on Kane.

Agree to disagree. Long COVID sucks and yeah, he had a serious issue healing. No one's saying he didn't. Also, No one's saying he's going to replace Zibanejad. 59% at the dot and still place an amazing shutdown center. He'd literally be the best #3C in the NHL. Sooo many people forget that. AND YES, cup winning teams do trade away 1st round picks for Conn Smythe leadership that can play up and down the line up. The Center position is the most important in hockey. It's actually extremely ironic that the two positions the rangers need are a playmaking winger and a 200' veteran center. Imagine controlling possession against Stamkos...the NYR might have actually won that series.

Only so much Cap to go around. Even with 50% retention and a 2nd team involved, I don't see how they could possibly fit both.

I agree with exo2769 here. Toews was stronger as the year progressed and he’s yet another year and long off season away from his health issue. His health issue was also inflammatory not a physical joint issue that needed surgery like a hip shoulder or low back. That bodes well for a rebound.

That said, who knows how LTIR will look come TDL. There could be a way to make them both fit.
