Wow, that is an aggressive deal for Newhook. I'm guessing this OS would be based on the idea that he has a breakout in 2022/23?

The problem in my opinion here is that the team is using a whole bunch of future assets and plugging a (best case scenario here), 2C in at 1C, and a 3C in at 2C. I think the team would be better off just being bad.

The only way this works is if they sign Newhook, and he takes a tremendous leap forward immediately after singing that deal. Quite unlikely.

Also, i know that chytil had a few good weeks, but i think that trade is bad value for boston.

yes somewhat that but also just based off his potential. speedy/shifty center with solid playmaking abilities sounds pretty perfect for what we want between hall and pasta or even lysell.
unless he put up less then high 30 points i'd be pretty confident giving him that offer knowing hall and pasta could bring the best out of him.

kind of like what carolina is hoping to do with JK which i think they will this year given he is their new 2c with a plethora of winger weapons in svech/teuvo/pax/jarvis/necas.

If he scores 60pts they’re matching. It all depends on what he does.

ya i think they really screwed themselves over with the mack deal and they will have to decide between newhook or byram which i feel they take byram. but newhook could decide he wants to stay in colorado and take a discount. but i feel at the age of 21, 12 mill aswell as the chance to play with hall and pastrnak would be hard to decline.

If a team is willing to retain a bit on Ullmark, I can see the Canes doing that. He could be a pretty good mentor for Koochie if Freddie decides not to resign, and would be a stopgap until one of Hamrla/Quapp/Vondras is ready for the backup spot.

then they let byram walk though? they can only offer 1 of them over 5 mill even if they move 1 of toews or girard. if byram continues at the pace he is at he probably produces around the 40-50 point mark while also being a great two way dman, hard to pass up.

i could see ari/ buff being willing given the amount of cap they have over the next few years. probably would cost a 3rd or a 4th from both teams

newhook may be a 2c but he is only centering hall and pastrnak which would surely increase his production and play especially because his game matches theirs so well.

grz i feel could be the odd man out with lohrei coming up that's mainly the reason i am moving him. he can't play PK he does play PP2 but lohrei will take over that role as i feel he has stronger offensive qualities, so it would kind of leave him only playing 5v5 and i think he would be better off on a different team where they can use him to his best strengths.

chytil i do like big speedy center, he is inconsistent but what young rangers player has been consistent lately. I think being mentored by marchand and given better opportunities in boston could potentially help develop him into the 2C he was suppose to become.

also yes getting a high draft pick would be nice but boston still wouldn't be bad enough to finish bottom 5 i feel without bergy+krech they would still be around the 12-15 mark with whatever replacement center and i think i'd rather take newhook then risk that 12-15 OA pick turns into something, this year is a stacked draft class but sweeney scares me at times drafting

Dont see a scenario where Newhook is worth a 1st, 3rd and 6mill on a bridge.

Gryz absolutely has more value than Chytil, Chytil is just not that good. Would rather have Zacha in that spot and ride with Studnicka/Beecher/other relatively young player on that 3rd line

Regarding grzelcyk: first off, lohrei hasn’t played a professional hockey game, so lets pump the brakes. I understand trying to get younger, that doesn’t mean you have to give grzelcyk away. Chytil stinks.

I think this team is bad, and doesn’t have a first round pick. I’d rather they be bad and have a first round pick.

You're forgetting the Berg/Krejci 4.5m. Not sure Bruins can afford to even offer the sheet

maybe it can be 1x6 mill or 2x 4.5-5 then either way colorado doesn't have much cap so aslong as the offer is over 4 mill really they will have troubles matching the offer. i can agree with a lot of chytils bad takes i just see his physical attributes like his size and speed and see potential i also see that rangers system hasn't done well with any of laffy/ kakko or chytil other then them all having a hot week here or there. their whole system relies on PP scoring really. i feel on a team like boston that is strong at scoring 5v5 he could maybe do better in our system

well we could do the offer sheet not sign graves and or make chytil trade, trade grz for picks/ prospects bring up ahcan or mast or berglund whoever is most ready or sign a cheap vet.

newhook is the focal point of the ACGM all the other parts can be moved around to make cap work, thank you for pointing that out though completely forgot about the bonus carryovers.

this team really isn't that bad still have 3 top tier wingers in marchand/ pasta/ hall. newhook is a good center who will be better given he will be centering 2 of those wings.

debrusk/ coyle/ zacha are all pretty solid and zacha could end up being 2c centering marchand and lysell which i could see being a good line.

carlo is a good top 4 dman, mcavoy is a top 5 dman, lindholm is a solid first pairing dman and we got sway in net. aslong as we can get decent depth to surround them we should be fine. yes i could see us missing playoffs for sure but we would probably be just in the outskirts meaning our pick most likely falls between 12-16 which i will take newhook's potential over that pick. especially because their is less hype around the 24 draft compared to the 23 which we could get a good prospect from that draft.

Right. They’re not bad. But they aren’t good either. They’re stuck in purgatory without draft picks. I think that’s the worst place to be in the NHL.

they are literally only missing their 1st in 2024 they still have their 1st's in 23 and 25 with extra 2nd's + 3rds in other years. they really aren't in a bad spot they also have Newhook now who has 1C potential and could reach that potential within 2 more seasons. even if we keep that pick and draft a C at 12-16OA if he does turn out and becomes a 1C it won't be for 4-6 seasons and realistically i don't see the jacobs being that patient they don't like loosing or tanking they want to be in PO's i can see them doing a small retool like we did in 2014-15/ 2015-16 but they will definitely want to compete while pasta/mcavoy/ swayman/ carlo/ lindholm/ hall are in their prime years and while marchand can still be a serviceable 2nd liner.

any other ownership maybe i could see them taking their time but the jacobs are very impatient men and tanking could result in loss of sales and those greedy f*cks won't let that happen lol

Oh boy. Another tired Jacob’s rant. It hasn’t made sense in 15 years, and it certainly doesn’t make sense now.

I’m quite aware of what picks they literally have, i did look this over.

If Newhook looks like a potential 1C, a 2x6 offer sheet doesn’t get him. Being mediocre and trading away firsts to do so is, in my opinion, a poor long and short term strategy.
