Last Ditch Efforts

Created by: BarSouthBeauties
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 20, 2022
Published: Sep. 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- Sandin for Hague is essentially a wash and a change of scenery for both. Muzzin gets back to playing with Martinez, while Leafs pick up Chandler to be 2nd Line LW and fill in occasionally at C.
- Seattle gets a cheaper and arguably similar RHD in Holl for another tank year, then Holl comes off the books. Kerfoot adds to the offence and also comes off the books, but could re-sign being from BC. Hayden adds playoff depth and toughness to TOR, and the picks are balanced.
- Severson brings more all around game than Connor Murphy, but Murphy has term and CHI won't eat salary for the remainder of the term. Pay the price for the 1 year of Severson and NJD gets some nice pieces to build on for the future.

Can’t see much of an argument for any of these teams considering those deals.

These trades are so lopsided in Toronto’s favor. I mean, you can’t expect to give up crap and get other teams value pieces.

Hague for Sandin isn’t a wash, since Hague is a much better player and is actually proven. And Vegas won’t be trading their biggest bargain bin contract for an injury prone Muzzin and 2 mid picks. They already dealt with enough injuries last year, they don’t need any more injury prone players. A cap dump in Holl and a third liner in Kerfoot plus a 2nd wouldn’t get the Kraken to consider trading one of the best defensive dmen in the league, let alone adding on top of him. NJ isn’t trading Severson with half retention for a 1st and 2 meh prospects, neither of which they have a positional need for.

Not terrible for half-season of Severson. Abruzzese obviously has some local connections. But, I’d be asking for Knies though.

But if they got Larsson, could play Brodie, Larsson, Liljegren down right side and may not need Severson.

Guess I read that the opposite way. Glad we can all see subtracting our second leading scorer last year for 2 defenseman doesn’t make any sense
