well first i'd start by not allocating 4 million to Kaut & Bowers. Meyers would likely take slightly less, Byram would probably want a Nurse type bridge deal (3.2 x 2) and might be safe to give Newhook the 1 year QO and go from there as the cap rises

Bowers and Kaut are super unlikely to contribute to this team. Bowers is actually likely to never see the nhl unfortunately- so that $2m would be wasted

One of Toews or Girard could very likely be traded and then all of a sudden we have way more wiggle room to build out that bottom 6
