stil need to fill out the roster so another 1.5 - 2m for some reserve players.

avs likely let compher walk and sign a cheaper 3c.

dobson's 3x$4m is a good comparable for byram.

I mean the world is not falling apart by any means, but this is a 20 man roster with 387K in cap space, add 1F and 1D at league min you're 1.2M over the cap, that's not to mention injuries or anything that are bound to happen during the season.

I feel in general Girard might be on the move which is fine as they will get a nice return for him but thats a year away

As it gives them the space to make some moves and sign Byram and Newhook without issue

I'd imagine if Newhook showed the goods well enough to be COL's 2C next year he's gonna cost heck of a lot more than that.

If Byram posts 50 pts that's a good problem to have

ntc, they won’t ask him to waive and move him 1 year removed from signing his deal.

If the cap is suppose to jump as much as they predict in 2 years. Avs. Can mitigate this by doing what every other other team does exploit LTIR.

Trade for a ltir contract with 1 year left to cover any overs next year, let the 5m+ rise in cap the following year cover the rest

I mean if you think about it sell high on Girard and get some assets/players that can improve the depth

Like there will be teams who will pay big for Girard. Vancouver and Ottawa to name a few

I cant believe there were people who actually thought Mac wouldnt be the highest paid player in the league for a bit. Crazy ideas out of them. This was so easy to call

If Byram continues to play as well as he's been playing he gets way more than under 3m. Even with the bridge

not against trading Girard, it could be best long term, but there might be ways to get around the 1 year of the cap being as tight as this by thinking outside the box such as the LTIR shenanigans

I just think signing him and nichuskin may have both been a mistake. I like nichuskin and don't mind Manson. But they are somewhat of luxuries and if the cap gets tight I think they're replaceable at cheaper price points

Manson maybe, but not Nuke, he is what makes the Avs the Avs. They won bc of their forechecking with speed identity, hes unique and made that top 6 as deadly as it was.
You dont let that go bc of 750k or something like that in his aav. You cant replace a nuke easily.

Up to the cap limit with a 20 man roster while underpaying Byram and Newhook

JTC isn’t even worth the last year on his current deal. He is absolutely gone after this year, zero chance at a 5 year deal especially at that cost

Very random signing you threw in there lol, I don’t think we’re watching the same guy

You want the receipts? Look in the kyrou contract thread. Pg 3. I also called between 100-110 mil for him specifically in this thread:

Nah. With the cap about to explode Mac will be thinking of a 90-100 million dollar cap in his contracts lifetime. Hed be getting screwed again if he went below mcdavids deal.

Because a lot of people actually believe the "he took less money to win" narrative for some reason.
