Sandin taking Nylanders Advice both got to go

Created by: Leafsloyalist
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 21, 2022
Published: Sep. 21, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Background - I was a Nylander guy, but it just too apparent that he doesnt fit in with the team. His friendship with Matthews changed that year he held out, before that they had so much chemistry.

And last years playoffs, when he scores, its suppose to pick up the team, but his non-chalant attitude didnt help. You could see someone talked to him because the next game he gave a fake WOOOO which just looked forced and didnt give the Leafs momentum.

Sandin and Nylander are friends and just looks like another hold out.

With that, Winnipeg is looking for change and Scheifele wasnt happy at the exit meetings.

Does this trade work? leafs save money and get ELC too. and move Tavares to LW

So because you by into troll nonsense you decide to send two better players for two worse players? Schiefele's leadership and committment to his team have been questioned a lot in the past 2 years and he sucks defensively. Nylander is better. This is just ridiculous

Scheifele has more value in this case cause A) he's a Centre and B) his cap hit is lower, albeit slightly. Adding Sandin, to a situation where the Jets already have a glut of young LHD isn't moving the needle to bridge the gap and on top of that giving up Heinola. Jets would not do this. Also, high probability that Nylander would just leave in 2 years anyway, so really the Jets would get 2 years of Nylander and Sandin for a #1C and a top D prospect. I dont think the Jets even consider this framework unless Knies is added to the deal and that would be a non started for the Leafs. Especially their fans.

It's a high probability that Schiefele leaves in a year. Nylander is better, younger and has more term. Leafs have no reason to move him.

Scheiffle and Tavares would likely not get along and you're sending the two better players to the Jets, Toronto doesn't touch this deal

They both have 2 years left, Scheifele is a PPG or better player each of the last 6 years, and plays Centre, Nylander has never hit a PPG albeit close this year. He also plays centre which is way more valuable then a winger. The only thing you've gotten correct is that he's younger. The comments about leadership and issues were completely overblown last year and sensationalized by the media. He's a team first guy.

thanks for input, just a few fact corrections.

Nylander and Scheifele both have 2 years left, and both probably leave Winnipeg after 2 years. However, Winnipeg has money to throw at Nylander, he may stay.

Whether Nylander is better or not, he doesnt fit with this team. He played with matthews and they were creating chances by themselves not together. He goes with Tavares and they dont mesh and he goes to the third line. Sheifele would push Tavares to LW which leafs have been wanting to do but dont have a Center for it, as Kerfoot isnt a 2nd line Center.

@logan u calling me a troll yet you cant even get facts straight. Tell me how Nylander has more term

Also, atleast Scheifele bodychecks, we need someone tough to play with Tavares

What a silly scenario you laid out. And then the completely unfactual statement about Nylander and Sandin says they both are "holdouts". How are players that have no contact and have the right to sign with any team in any league, "holdouts"? Just because they did not sign a contract before training camp for "your" team?

Are they holding a pen and signing a contract? or are they holding out for a better contract?

Ive seen the conversation about how its not a hold out as they dont have a contract to hold out their services, but buddy, real talk, their holding out on a better contract. End of the day they are not in training camp holding out for a better contract. stop with this nonsense.

I wouldn't move Nylander for Schiefele. End of debate.

No, they are not holdout by any definition. Aren't the Leafs management "holding out" by not offering Sandin a contract he would sign now? Of course not. No team/player is holding out. Sandin is free to sign with any team in any league, if he gets an offer he likes, and similarly any team in any league can sign Sandin if they want.

Stop with your nonsense. How about this. Sandin is not signing with any team at moment cause he hasn't been offered a contract he likes. Hardly a reason to think he is doing anything wrong just because he hasn't a signed with "your" team.

You are spot on. Sandin could be considered retired. He would stay that way until he finds an offer he likes. Holdout, smoldout!
