Trading for Ethan Bear

Created by: canucksfan43
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 21, 2022
Published: Sep. 21, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
VAN
  1. Bear, Ethan
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (PHI)
Additional Details:
The third is a placeholder since I feel most would agree Hoglander has more value than Bear, Carolina would trade another alright asset
CAR
  1. Höglander, Nils
Additional Details:
I feel that Hoglander is expendable because of how deep our forward core currently is and his production and impact can be easily replaced. We need a RHD like Bear more than we need Hoglander.

Now I think we're getting there. I like this trade from a Canes perspective. I wouldn't be surprised if this is something the Canes FO would do. This gives each team something of value to them. Kudos, canucksfan43.

As much as I like Hoglander, he's gonna continue to get pushed further down the lineup. With guys like Mikheyev, Kuz playing this year and then Lekkerimaki, Klimovich etc. joining in a few years we just don't need Hoglander nearly as much as we'd need a RHD. Plus, he wasnt all that good last year

The only other option I'll throw out there (and I'm sure the FO has multiple) is this. I don't know where Vegas stands on Nic Hague's contract discussion, but if they are open to a trade, I would go after him in a heart beat. If deHaan's PTO is insurance at the moment, I could see the Canes being interested in making a run at Hague. In that case, maybe Bear to Vancouver for a pick, then package that pick in a trade for Hague. I could see them stacking the D a little stronger at the bottom. Sort of what they had in 2019.

Ok, so let's keep Hoglander play him in limited minutes, stunt his development, and on top of that have a bad defense

We could just trade Pearson and have Hoglander go into the top 9

so we give him away.Makes no sense to me but ok.He will earn his mins. Why trade / give up on a good young player thats why we have a farm team. So using your logic would you have traded Peety when he slumped early last season?

Bruh Hoglander and Pettersson are two totally different things, one is a top 3 player on the ENTIRE team, the other is a struggling young guy who might not be one of our top 9 forwards rn. Using Hoglander to upgrade our defense, which is honestly quite atrocious outside of Huggy Bear, is way more beneficial to this team now and in the future. I'm pretty sure guys like Petey, Hughes, Demko, Bo, etc. don't like missing the playoffs every single season and our d-core is not playoff quality in the slightest rn. Plus how "by my logic" am i saying we should've traded Petey. If your fine with a mediocre team then so be it

To get something of value you gotta give up something of value! I do the trade
