I would honestly rather buy out bean. Opens up 2 million in cap and a spot on defense. No need for a forward who isn’t at least in the middle of his prime (27-28) Bailey is on the back end and doesn’t fit the mid to long term view. Now a guy like Kevin labanc I wouldn’t hate. (Or we should have signed a guy like Evan Rodriguez.

Why would Jarmo help Lou out? Bailey should cost a 1st or at least a 2nd round pick to move out his contract. He's really not considered value wise around the league.

I have always liked Baily as a player. I know he's regressing, but just trading Bean out for him isn't doing Lou a favor, especially with retention. Maybe NYI would retain $2m?

I mean, if Dom's right and this is a bottom-six team in the league, I say sure, bring on the ghost of Josh Bailey and improve those Bedard odds.

I think we all know that is not case. CBJ consistently outperform his "model" and he compensates by saying they'll regress to the mean every year. They are a young and growing team and that does not factor in. Laine, Jenner and Voracek played great together and helped create a ton of offense last year, but he has them all doing worse this year. Jenner's GSVA last year was 1.5 and should be even better between Laine and Gaudreau this year, but he has him projected at 0.3. Laine was .9 and is projected to do the exact same even though he has improved each season with CBJ and will be playing with Gaudreau. He also sleeps on getting any impact from Boqvist or Marchenko, and his model doesn't even come close to accounting for the value the Gudbranson will bring.

I wouldn't mind Bailey, but we already have too many wingers...
