I wish these "Get all the Hughes brothers" trades would burn in the fire of 10,000 suns. It only gets Nucks and Devils fans at each other's throats when it wasn't either side starting it in most cases.

Other than this weird obsession of uniting brothers on the same team, there really isn't a good fit for either side. I've yet to see a proposal that would make sense.

Oh man. I'm not saying he's as good or valuable as McDavid or Matthews, I'm saying he's franchise altering for VAN; he's already the best Dman their franchise has ever had and he's still improving. But to accuse me of bias then lumping Jack Hughes in with the other two guys is hilarious man. Top level stuff.

thats sad that hughes is considered a franchise player when he isnt even a top 20 defenseman lmao. And I will gladly provide the stats to back it up. 45th in WAR, 18th in xWAR and not even top 50 in PPG/60 (points per game, per 60 minutes).

he is very good, just not franchise altering. but ig when your #2 defenseman is OEL then maybe he is franchise altering wink

jack hughes is a superstar, which is the same tier as mcdavid. there is no tier above superstar IMO, but there is a huge difference between hughes and mcdavid.

NHL career points per game:
Jack Hughes; 108 in 165 = .65
Quinn Hughes (D); 165 in 205 = .80
Austin Matthews; 457 in 407 = 1.12
Connor McDavid; 697 in 487 = 1.43

All four of these guys are in different tiers at this moment in their careers. You may want to re-evaluate your player standards.

Tell me you don’t watch hockey without telling me you don’t watch hockey. Hughes is not a defensive pylon. He was bad in the Canadian division, but was actually good defensively last year. So yes, we will keep our 23 year old franchise dman

Awesome, The Devils will happily keep the guy they just reached for at 2nd overall whom is going to become a stud. No interest.

Exactly, the Devils are on their way up and VAN is not going to move their key young piece even if they go through a facelift.

Jack Hughes was on a 93.7 point pace this year with a top 10 WAR/82 games in the league, top 5 in xWAR (both under qualified forwards only).

As I stated earlier, quinn hughes did not even crack top 40 in WAR, he was 45th.

You can use terrible stats if you want, but i prefer analytics and projectiles and stats on a per basis, putting all players on the same playing field

That's good that you like to look at analytics, you'll no doubt know then that Quinn dramatically makes all of his teammates around him better when he's on the ice than when he's off it in all zones. I'm not trying to take away from Jack Hughes or the potential of Nemec here. We started by talking about trade values, and for VAN Quinn Hughes is as untouchable as it gets. Jack might end up being the better player at the end of their careers, but from the Canucks current perspective and needs Quinn is vital to any success they might have and it doesn't make sense to move him in a package deal.

Jack Hughes is not anywhere near McDavid and Matthews come on man, He had one good 50 game run. Are we forgetting that Jack Hughes was extremely dissapointing in his first 2 years? Jack has a lower career PPG than Quinn by a significant margin despite being a forward.

ok? he got hurt. but his per/82 projections were 93.7 points. Who is better: 50 points in 40 games or 60 points in 82?

And it’s rarely Devils or Canucks fan that want them.

Just go with it. It will be talked about for the next decade as all three will likely be stars throughout.

Bring us Quinn when his contract is up. In the meantime, we will hang onto to Bratt, Nemec and Holtz (and I expect each to be on NJD roster in 2027, if/when Quinn does arrive).

Calling Jack a superstar after half a season of PPG play is questionable imo. If Jack is a superstar Quinn is definitely a superstar

That’s a terrible way to look at it
You’re comparing a 21 year olds stats to a 25 year old
Not saying he’s on the same level as McDavid or Matthews but at least use better logic

I included total games played in there to show that it’s not apples-to-apples. All four guys are at different stages of their development. Which makes it all the more laughable to put Jack Hughes in the same tier as McDavid or Matthews at the moment. Eventually… maybe.

Putting their current stats favors the older guys (Matthews, McDavid) because they’re in their primes. If you do compare them at and equal age, it would be much more accurate

Not really. Matthews put up 47 goals in 70 games in his 3rd season. McDavid had 97 points in 64 games in his 3rd season. Jack hughes is very good but you are getting a little far ahead of yourself. He had one half of a good season. Lets not pretend Jack Hughes is even close to their level

quinn was not top 45 in WAR, jack hughes was on a 93 point pace and was top 10 in WAR/82. And he isnt close to their level, but he is in the tier of superstar for sure lol. I also dont like the devils, but hughes has proven that he has been held back by his team and as soon as he has had solid linemates, his point production increases as well

I never actually said Quinn was worth more than a 1st or 2nd overall pick. What I've repeatedly said is that it makes no sense for VAN to trade Hughes if they're trying to be competitive right away. Getting back Nemec would be great, but it would delay that window to compete and could seriously backfire if Nemec doesn't end up being as good as Hughes is right now. As awesome as he looks, we don't have a crystal ball for any prospect's development path.
