Sorry but Jason Robertson isn't from California, His brother Nick is Jason is from Northville, Michigan close to where i grew up.

Jason was born in Arcadia, CA and then moved to Michigan as a kid. Born in Cali, raised in Michigan

Okay then this site is wrong then, because it says he was born in Northville, Michigan but that's where he grew up.

Stars aren't trading Robertson, but if they were entertaining offers from Anaheim, I don't see them entertaining anything less than something involving Troy Terry + other pieces.

Dallas is trying to win now and trading Robertson for prospects and picks doesn't really help them in that regard. They would want a young, contract-controlled winger that can slot into a top-6 role and on to a PP unit. The only one that fits that bill in Anaheim is Terry.

If we are entertaining trading Terry, then Anaheim isn't adding, its a straight up deal. The only way you are dealing Robertson is with an inability to sign him, the Cap savings you get by taking Terry is all the sweetener needed. He only scored 4 less goals than Robo did last season.

Furthermore, Helleson can't be touched, he is our only NHL Ready? RD prospect, and after this season we only have Drysdale under contract.

You'd have to give up something valuable to get a ppg+ young winger. You could start your package with McTavish and maybe then Jim Nill wouldn't hang up on the trade offer

If Perrault, Hellson and the picks are deemed to NHLers, gee I don't know why the Ducks would make that trade.
Just keep those very cost efficient players and future and sign an UFA for about Robertson next season.
Now admitting Robertson would give more immediate impact to the Ducks......which is why the Stars probably don't do the deal.

All that buys Dallas is one year then they are faced with negotiating the same contract with Terry that they don't want to give Robertson. The frame work of a straight up trade really doesn't make any sense for either team in my opinion.

McTavish is an untouchable, we are looking to add to the young core, not trade it away. Would you trade Quinn + for Robertson?

It does punt the problem, but next year Pavelski, Dobby, and a fair few other contracts come off the books. While there is still Hintz to sign next season, pushing the problem a year, letting the cap grow a bit, and letting the contracts that are preventing you signing Robo this year fall off does make the problem easier to solve, plus its burns off another year of Benn or Seguin making one of them easier to move, if needed.

No because I don't think Robertson will be worth the long-term deal he signs. But yes Quinn + would be a fair starting point, just like McTavish + would be
