why wouldn't they? He can play 3C or anywhere on the LW. Kills penalties and can play on the PP in a pinch

one of the worst defensive forwards in the NHL, pending 27 YO UFA - he's also one of the biggest regression candidates for next season considering he shot 23.6% last year. The isles could do a lot better if they wanted to trade their 2023 1st.

Bill Armstrong wants a top end prospect and 2 1st round picks for Jakob Chychrun, Pretty sure he gets better than this.

While your points all make sense, the Islanders did just trade 13OA for Romanov.

Trading the 2022 1st for a 22 YO 2nd pair D to play with Dobson makes a lot more sense than trading a 2023 1st for a guy coming off a career year and who will be looking to get paid.

also the market for defenseman is absurd. If you are in need of a top 4 defenseman right now, you are either overpaying in a trade or overpaying in free agency.

Also in regards to the shooting percentage yea cause he finally wasn’t on the 4th line so of course it goes up

You are getting a 1st for a pending UFA winger who has one really good year and a bunch of bottom 6 production years, those kind of wingers just don’t have that value.
