Giving Bruce the lineup he wants and freeing up a little cap space

Created by: alwaysnextyear
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 22, 2022
Published: Sep. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Rather than sending Hoglander straight up for Bear (which isn't the best value for VAN IMO), maybe use him as the currency to move Poolman's contract. I chose ARZ for this, but it could be another team with interest and cap space. Then flip a 3rd to CAR for Bear.

I know there will be Canucks fans on here that hate the idea of using Hoglander as a cap dump sweetener, but if Boudreau isn't planning to use him the way he should be then they should get value for him before his stock drops any more. At the moment I think freeing up cap space is the most valuable option.

I'd rather let Hoglander get his confidence back in the AHL and then call him up for injuries than use him as a sweetener

A Bear trade to Vancouver that doesn't include eating the Dickinson anchor? Yeah, sure.

I think your proposal is well thought out but my only issue is most GMs these days are burying problem contacts without giving up assets. Poolman can be put on LTIR and no one would even blink.

I like this years look of the team and I am not in favor of moving Garland or Hoglander . I think the D is nowhere near as bad as the media or some fans comments are. I think go into this season as is and if needed later on pull the trigger.

The reason other teams want Garland and Hoglander are because they are very good value players and you don't win by selling off good value for average value players.

I just hope the team doesn't tank Hoglander's perceived value by keeping him and not putting him in a position to succeed.

I think Hogs will get a chance just because of the inevitable injuries. I would love having him as a depth guy playing 40 games this year. I say start him in Abby and we know in a week or three someone will get injured and he gets the phone call.

I think your proposal is very fair but I wouldn't.
