Devils are not taking Foegele's contract for anything short of an arm and a leg. No reason to sell those players for picks. Easy decline.

The Puljujärvi for Formenton would be interesting for Ottawa prior to getting Giroux. Their top 6 is pretty locked in.

Even as a die hard Ottawa fan it would be fun seeing McDavid and Formenton fly down the ice on one line.

With Bernier getting activated around thanksgiving, the Devils wouldn’t have the cap to take Foegle on.
Have to find some other team.

If Formenton was guilty, he'd have ZERO value so this trade doesn't happen

If he is innocent, no way Ottawa trades Formenton like that

If getting tougher was the goal (it isn't) I can think of better ways to do it. This isn't even very effective, as Formenton and McLeod aren't particularly tough, they are in fact smaller / less physical than Puljujarvi and Foegele, the players you moved for them.

Bastian is tough but it shouldn't cost much to get him, as he's not all that great at playing hockey.

So overall I'd give this a D-.
