Problem with this - Hague signing for $2m. When you trade for an unsigned RFA, you are almost guaranteed to over pay

Fair -- I really don't know what his ask is right now. Any idea?

VAN needs all kinds of help on the blueline. A righty would obviously be ideal, but if Hughes plays the right side then there's a hole on the left.

No clue honestly, the Vegas situation throws everything into the air, but now that it’s clear that Patrick is out (adding to Lehner & Weber) I think there is finally cap room add in the tax differences…I’d guess a bridge in the 2.5-3.0m range.

Hague can be a top 4 guy, and Vegas has a lot of money and term tied up in the blue line. I’d be wondering if there is a trade in the works with Hague or another blue liner.

Might be a fair trade, though it really doesn't help the Vegas cap that much. Gotta think they would prefer to keep Hague even at 2m

Knights have close to $3m in space to sign Hague if they wanted. I think there is more to this situation than we are hearing.

Gee, if it's just two disgruntled players and not about money so much.....maybe a Hague/Sandin trade makes sense. I'm on record though, you don't trade "disgruntled" players. Pretty soon all the disgruntled players on the team, think they can complain and be traded too.

Groin Pucker.....ouch that's makes cringe just seeing that name.

I’m thinking more along the lines of a trade, less a disgruntled player. Knights have a ton of $ and term invested in their blue line…

I guess that depends if Rathbone is ready to step in.

He'll definitely get some games this year and may even be ready for full-time duty, but I don't think they should expect top-4 minutes from him yet.

In this scenario the Canucks could make it a 2.2m deal for one year and then give him the bump next season. Not ideal for the team, but they could try to make the numbers work next offseason.

if Hughes moves right, then Dermott is moving left.

Rathbone and Dermott can split time, to isolate him away from 20 mins, but also to isolate Demott from 20 mins as well.

We'll see, the kid needs a chance, not like they are a contender in the west anyways, If Vegas manages to get decent goaltending from their hodge-podge trio, then Vancouver is likely on the outside looking in.

True. But even if they're not a playoff team you don't want to sink a kid's confidence by giving him too many matchups that are over his head. If he can handle them right away that would be awesome, but it's a little much to expect right away.

I don't think Vancouver is bad enough that he'd be thrown to the wolves, but it would be good to have him around Hughes, OEL and Myers to get some experience and learn.
