I'd expect a 1st to be the starting point for Severson and that whoever gets him would need to have the best offer on top of the 1st.

Trading Schmidt for a 3rd and then trading a 1st for Severson is awful asset management

I like Severson and he would be a nice pickup if he would sign an extension in Winnipeg. However, Winnipeg should not, under any circumstances, consider moving their first in the next few years for him.

Ya I agree but the jets wouldn’t trade for him at the TDL if they weren’t in a playoff spot so this would only happen if in playoff spot

If the Devils are selling at TDL there should be a handful of teams willing to beat that offer for Severson.

I could see how some GMs may push back on that.

Severson to WPG makes sense if Jets in playoff position and Devils are out (that’s probably assumed here). I could see Severson extending there too, as I don’t think he is looking for a big market and he is from Manitoba.

Instead of picks, if Devils asked for a forward in return, are there any that Jets would make available. For instance, we have seen many iterations of Garland-for-Severson from VAN fans. I think that route could be more appealing than picks.
