Lekkerimakki and a first should be considered untouchable for Vancouver. Theodore is great but that would be draining the last of our prospect depth

Why are you blowing up Vegas? They are an extremely solid team. They had terrible injury luck last year. If they deal with normal injuries, they are for a sure a playoff team and a competitor at that.

His 40 pts in 41 games in liiga (.98 PPG) is the 7th best draft + 1 liiga season ever. Slightly worse than Aho (1 PPG) and better than Lundell (.96) and Granlund(.92)

He’s definitely an A prospect.

Developing a prospect pool is also important.

These trades are either wild underestimations or crazy overestimations of the value of players who would never and could never be traded.

Before the Miller signing I was adamant the Canucks should not be trading away any 1st or 2nd round picks or good prospects. After management choose to (in my opinion) prematurely push the team into a win now mode with the Miller signing I think they are left with little choice but to spend some of (or all of) that capital if they want to be cup contenders. I get that developing a prospect pool is also important but that's usually done before a team reaches contender status so the cupboards are stocked in advance, Vancouver has once again tried to take a shortcut and shortcuts rarely work out.

Theodore is a fantastic player that would be a massive upgrade to Vancouver's back end, with that said the price is high for a team with few assets to spend. If I am Vancouver I would definitely want to see what else is out there and what their acquisition costs would be, but this trade looks like more than fair value (possibly even a steal for Vancouver since they are dumping Dickenson as well) for a player of Theodore caliber and contract. There's no question Vancouver needs to add on the backend if they want to compete for more than a playoff spot.

I would rather just be aggressive for Severson or Weegar in UFA and keep our remaining assets because if he bust out in a few years, we will have ZERO prospects to show for

Good chance Weegar doesn’t make it to FA, and if he does he’s likely 7+ per year, Vancouver has cap issues, I think it’s a no brainer to accept this trade if available. Dickinson alone would cost at least a 2nd to move.

I was getting super interested in acquring Pietrangelo, until I saw Batherson's name as part as the return. Batherson and his BARGAIN contract is a no go

And when you have to add THREE (3) first round picks on top of Batherson, it makes it absolutely DREADFUL

Pietrangelo is turning 33 in January and has 5 years left

Because they won't make the playoffs again with this core
