Purge most of the core

Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 24, 2022
Published: Sep. 24, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Jets need to move on from current core. Ehlers, connor, morrissey, and hellebuyck are the only core players that are untouchable. On the fence about pionk, but it's probably better keeping him as right side is kinda thin. Wheeler's still here because there is no way to trade him without having to retain or putting in a sweetener. If Heinola, Guhle and Perfetti hit, this jets team could have a nasty future. Only gotta worry about the hellebuyck contract in a few years.

Scheifele trade- avalanche fans will definitely complain. Even though their getting a ppg center making on 6 million for 2 years. Jets don't even get a first. Newhook is good but calm down. Plus you probably won't be able to pay compher down the road. So it's fair value for scheifele.

Dubois trade- 'he's gonna be on are team in 2 years', nah, why would he go to montreal you guys suck as s. Fair value cause dvorak's okay but not great. Jets need a good prospect in a trade. Were not taking Mysak (who tf?). Guhle future jets captain?

Dillon trade- Can't believe we gave up 2 seconds for dillon. Probably can't even get 1 of those 2nds back.

I would personally want more for Sheifele - add a 1st round pick to that package.

Maybe add one more B piece/prospect/pick coming over from Montreal to Winnipeg for PLD as well.

There absolutely no chance that MTL make that move. Guhle is not on the trade block. Winnipeg fan are better to lower their expectations because they will be really disappointed.

It’s not that the value isn’t fair it’s that COL would have zero chance to re-sign Scheifle be out a guy who is cost controlled and has 60pt potential and out their Swiss Army knife that they use up and down the line up and eats all of their cap space.

Unlikely at this point that the Jets sell low on those players.

Jets need something like this to happen. Their team has become kind of stale. Connor and Ehlers are absolutely electric, but Wheeler and Scheifele are pretty greasy, and PLD doesn't even wanna be there and he's acting like an entitled prick. Get those guys out of there and have your top line be Connor and Ehlers with someone new at centre. I want to see the Jets crush the central as the only Canadian team in it.

"Dubois trade- 'he's gonna be on are team in 2 years', nah, why would he go to montreal you guys suck as s."

You're literally tearing down the Jets lineup, and complain that he won't want to sign in Montreal in 2 years time because they suck?

with Montreals prospects, in 2 years, they're going to look a lot better than the 'peg

Colorado needs cost-control at the 2C, 2 seasons of Scheifele is fine, but leaves them in a big hole again afterwards, good short term move, terrible long term.

Jets need to purge for prospects and picks if they're going full rebuild, not roster players like Dvorak, Compher. They're almost better at moving Morrissey Hellebyuk, Ehlers, and Connor, those would yield the best return as they are mostly controlled long term on good contracts (thinking multiple 1st round picks or A level prospects).

Little roster shakeups rarely work, GM's need to admit they're screwed, blow it up, stock picks, and develop internally again.

Cole Perfetti has played 18 NHL games and all of them were on the wing. That is a huge leap of faith thinking that he is ready for 1C in 22-23 after day 2 of training camp.

"moving on from the core" and "Ehlers, connor, morrissey, and hellebuyck are untouchable" are mutually exclusive statements, no?

The Habs are so high on Guhle... No way they do that deal. Maybe replace Guhle with someone a few years away like Trudeau or Engstrom? Those guys both look like modern NHL 2-way defenders.

Helle shouldn't be an untouchable, he'll be 31 when he signs his next contract which will be an anchor before the ink drys, best to move on before then.

I don't think the west is a big fan of Trudeau... I would take out Newhook and add Olausson+.
