Bergevin might have done that PLD trade but I don't think they do it now. Maybe Barron, Price, a first and a lower pick

Trading away a player from a position of organizational weakness for a player in a position of organizational strength makes no sense.

No deal.

Points for creativity and aggressiveness, I will say.

But overpay for CBJ. I’d do Gus, a protected ‘24 1st, Bean, Bemstrom, and Foudy. A roster player, a 1st, a young D with term and control, and two young guys who need a change of scenery.

Scheifele can put up points, but he’s one of the worst defensive Cs in the game, and putting him on a top-line with Laine would be a disaster for a team that had little trouble scoring last year, and all the trouble defending. Plus, don’t they hate each other or something?

He’s got a good cap hit for now, but also not going to like him needing a new contract at 31.

Ain’t no chance Bob is waiving to go from Miami/ a state with no income tax to WPG. If FLA wants to move on from Bob, they’ll either need his full approval (plus likely retention in any trade), or they might buy him out during those final two years, when the salary and signing bonus shrink.

The value is probably close to fair but looking at locker room issues of the past I’m not sure I’d want to being Scheifele in to Columbus when he was part of the problem that got Laine to request a trade out of Winnipeg. It was Scheifele and Wheeler who were the players who ran Laine out of Winnipeg, and I can’t see Jarmo trading for one of them and keeping Laine. Since jarmo has also committed to Laine it’s pretty safe to bet that Jarmo would stay committed to Laine.
