2nd from a desperate team at most. Most likely a 3rd or two 4ths IMO and that is only because WSH isn't dealing from a position of strength since he might get plucked by Vegas

I think you're underselling him massively. He's shown as much as Jones or Lehner did before they got traded.

He's worth a 1st or 2 seconds. CGY was offering Johnson+1st for him at the deadline.

For Boston (who needs a good back-up) I'd do a 2017 1st, maybe even throw in Malcolm Subban. The trade for PG would pretty much block Subban and Subban (while not reach it yet) still has a ton of potential and his AHL numbers are actually pretty good. Sadly for him he just either gets beat out by other guys or when he does start rolling, he gets injured.

where is this proof? I'd love to know why WSH didn't take that deal then. I refuse to believe anyone offered that for him at the deadline. Also, Jones got dealt to a team without a goalie at the time so they had to pay up and almost every team in the league has a starting goalie except CGY/PHI - and PHI isn't giving up a 1st for Grubauer when we have Sandstrom/Hart/Stolarz all in the system. The Lehner trade IIRC was intersting because it was definitely an overpay by them but they also had two first round picks. The team with two first rounders this year (ARZ/STL) are definitely not trading for a goalie right now so I don't think he's going to net a 1st. I'm not trying to undersell him I'm just being honest and with the way the market is set right now it's going to be tough to get a 1st for him. Plus, that's without factoring in that guys like Mase, Kinkaid, Elliot, etc. are all free agents with similar or better track records that although will cost more $$$ won't require a draft pick being lost..

grub stats alone this year would put him in the top 10....statistically ......if you watch him play for germany you know hes the real deal....if you think hes only worth a 4th you are high hes the best goalie available by a mile (age/cap hit/talent) teams like vegas/van/philly/cal would offer high end picks in a terrible draft year for a goalie that will cost less than 3 million and be a immediate impact goalie i wouldnt be surprised if he was in the top 10 next year for goalies

We didn't take the trade because we just saw (and still seeing) how important it is to have two qualified goalies if you want to make a run at the Cup. And there is no way that he's only worth a third or two fourths. The rights to Scott Darling went for a third, and this is an older player with a lower ceiling. Gruby has shown time and time again that he's ready for 50 starts in a season. He's an ideal guy for Vegas because he has potential to be a high end starter very soon. Unless we trade him before hand, he's basically a lock to be taken by Vegas. And now that Bishop is off the market, Gruby is now the second best goalie out there. MAF is one, but Gruby will surpass him in a few years. We just saw Cam Talbot and Martin Jones be fantastic for their teams after being backups, and Gruby is about to do the same thing.

Are you one of those Flyer's fans that think Steve Mason is a starting goalie? Because I would take Grubauer over Mason 10 times out of 10. Not just because I'm a Caps fan, but because he's the more consistent, and better goaltender between the two
