Trades
1.
VGK
  1. Dickinson, Jason
  2. Lekkerimäki, Jonathan [Reserve List]
  3. 2023 1st round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Seen this posted by a VGK fan. I have a feeling Vancouver fans will be mixed but Theodore is a fantastic defenseman who is under a good contract for 3 more seasons. Price is high but if I'm betting it would cost a 2nd alone to move Dickinson so if this trade is available I am making it for sure.
2.
VAN
  1. Newhook, Alex [RFA Rights]
  2. 2023 1st round pick (COL)
COL
    Horvat with extension.

    Made sometime this season.
Seen this trade posted by a COL fan with mixed reaction. If it were available for Vancouver I am taking it in order to create cap space to improve the defense.
    3.
    VAN
    ARI
    1. Myers, Tyler
    Additional Details:
Assuming Myers had a season like last year and assuming that RD are still very difficult to acquire I don't think it costs to move him. Apparently there were multiple teams that reach out to the Canucks this offseason to see if he was available. He is also owed only 1M in base salary next season after signing bonus kicks in. I could actually see Myers being worth an asset to a team trying to reach the cap floor if he is only owed 1 million but counts as 6 towards the cap.

Avs decline. By this logic, Horvat basically has the same value as Theodore.

If Dickinson would cost a 2nd to dump, that's really not a good price for VGK. They take a big step back without Theodore and truly need to win now before things get worse as they have a very limited prospect pool.

I agree with you. Which is why I said in the trade “If this trade is available in making it for sure”. The VGK fan that posted the trade had it under the condition that VGK commit to a rebuild, I which I think is unlikely and I still think it’s probably selling low.

Unless horvat is signing for 5m aav, don’t see the net benefit for the avs

And if he’s signing that, he’s not leaving Vancouver

Both teams are in the same spot, they don’t have the cap to over spend on. 7m aav 2c

As stated in the trade the trade came from an AV’s fan with mixed reaction. If it *were* available I take it.

    Yup that’s fair.
Honestly, I wouldn’t make the trade if I were COL either. I more so wanted to make an AGM with recent trade proposals from non Vancouver fan bases and put them together to create a team. Lots of Vancouver fans didn’t like either trade proposal which I think is crazy when we are in a “win now mode” and could ice a roster like this.

The value in a vacuum is probably fine but the logic with the cap just doesn’t hit.

Avs would have to move girard still and depending on the deal could make sense cap wise, if they get young assets at lesser hits or ob their elcs

As a Vancouver fan I would be interested in a larger package deal that would see Horvat ++ for Newhook and Girard.

Yup more than likely. I was surprised to see some Vancouver fans saying no… then again not too surprised.

I would have to imagine that includes rathbone and I don’t think Canuck fans are willing to move him

From an Av's fan's perspective, what would the rest of that trade lock like? I would be reluctant to trade Rathbone but he's not untouchable if the right package came along. With Girard being similar age and able to play the right side, there's a possibility a deal could be worked out.

I don't think Van has the assets to make that deal. They have strong wingers but even if the Avs move Newhook and Girard for Hovart and a high end elc like Pod+. The Avs only have 18m in cap+ w.e the cap goes up to sign 10 guys. Some of them are Byram, Meyers, replacement 2c, 3/4c, a solid replacement for Girard(Hes underpaid so who know) and then we have to replace/make room for Toews the following year.
There isnt a big move to be made by these teams. Maybe Schenn at the tdl or something.
Van keeps him for a playoff push in the weak Pacific and Avs don't weaken themselves for a rental they don't need and can't afford to keep.

I would potentially be willing to include Rathbone in a package for Girard, I wouldn't be willing to include Podkolzin. If that's the piece required then I don't think there would be any interest from Vancouver.

Ya, I dont feel like these teams are good trade partners. Maybe something big for Toews next summer.
