Add the Future Goalie

Created by: rhfa61
Team: 2022-23 Los Angeles Kings
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 24, 2022
Published: Sep. 24, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kings need a goalie of the future.
Wild need cheap, young, and NHL ready players since their cap is bad the next 3 years.
These teams already made a trade this off season…

Does this deal make sense? Thoughts…

Jesper Wallstedt is arguably the best goalie prospect in the world right now. I highly doubt he's on the table.

I feel like Askarov or Knight will be better tbh. But Wallstedt is right up there with those two. Levi might be in that category too.

Askarov is the only one in the conversation, that being said, all of the experts in prospect rankings disagree with anyone being close to Walstadt, and well, a cheap goalie, is significantly better than trading for NHL ready 3rd liners when the wild have a top 5 prospect pool full of NHL ready talent.

Devils (and probably a dozen other teams) offer more, from outside conference.

JAD might be put on waivers too

Askarov had a much better 2020-21 than 2021-22. He had a .913 in 6 KHL games and an .899 in 9 VHL games. Compare that to Wallstedt's .918 in 22 SHL games and a .940 at the World Juniors, and I think Wallstedt passed him up, but just barely. And I don't really consider Spencer Knight to be a prospect any more.

I get where you're coming from, all three of these guys look poised to be star goalies in the NHL.

Goalies are weird… It’s too early to say with any of them imo. And 2022 was a goalie drought.

Yeah, as much as I'd like this to come true, we could make the 2024 pick our first and the Wild would still say No. And not just No . . . NO!!

For real. They literally have no one else in their system who projects to ever be a NHLer.
