Malgin didn't 'pop out'. The only time he was noticeable is when Nylander did all the work and put the puck on his stick. Even then he managed to **** it up all but once. He was completely unnoticeable the rest of the game. Malgin was nothing but the stick that Nylander managed to hit.

Did you watch anything else besides his couple of early whiffs or are you just flat out ignoring the rest of his play which was fairly decent and better than I expected. He had a couple of nice backchecks and seemed pretty good entering the Ozone while also displaying decent positioning, tenacity and IQ. Just one preseason game, but so far displaying what you'd want to see from a player like him and if he keeps it up should be a lock to make the team.

I thought Gaudette was more noticeable. As was Minten but he's down the road. I missed most of game 2 though

I thought he was okay but he'll probably have to show more than he did to crack the line-up. He could be the type of guy that gets better the longer he's in the Leafs' program. Hard to see exactly where he'll fit though.

He was the first star of the game for a reason.

Where to start with all of that…. Ok I’ll at least touch on your #4 because it’s the most glaring. How do you figure the goaltending situation will be fine when 1. Murray didn’t play yesterday. And 2. Samsonov wasn’t even tested during only 2 periods of play.

Are you talking Minten or Gaudette. He was forechecking hard and going to the net. I liked what he did with JT.

Obviously not basing the goaltending on yesterday's double header alone but all indications are they arrived in camp extremely motivated and primed to prove the doubters wrong. Both goalies have as much or more ability than most goalies in the league and in the right situation will be solid. This is a perfect situation for both goalies. Add in Kallgren as a more than viable option to fill in if needed and our goaltending IMO will not be an issue.

If Gaudette pans out, then he'd also be a nice fit next to JT/Willy. Definitely more options this year and its gonna be fun to see how it all shakes out.

He's got the look of an extremely good defensive forward.

I liked how he challenged guys in the corner, got lose pucks and went to the net hard. He certainly gave major effort and I love that.

Yeah, very Kampf like but with potential to be better offensively. High IQ, quick to get on opponents and was surprised by his strength for a 19 year old.
