Horvat for Chychrun

Description
Obviously Horvat won't resign in Arizona, but they can flip him. They are not going to get what they are reportedly asking for Chychrun (two firsts, an A prospect and a roster player) or he would have already been dealt, but they can start the bidding for Horvat with what the Jets got for Copp; a prospect, a first and a second-round pick (in a very deep draft).

Chychrun would set up in Vancouver a lot like Sergachev has in Tampa.

Even if they don't get what they're currently asking for Chychrun (which I agree they won't), they'll still get better offers than this from other teams.

Easy no from Arizona... And this post is just dumb, do the trade from Arizona's POV if the focus is what they're going to get from a Horvat trade.

Chychrun would easily get them a return more than Copp's, they're just asking for too good of a prospect and they have more time to work through trades than a deadline deal.

The Copp trade also wasn't as rich as you're implying. It was a conditional pick that was pretty unlikely to turn into a first, but the Rangers over-achieved.

Bad asset management for the Coyotes in my opinion. Why would they trade a guy away who still has term left on his deal (and who’s a better player in his own right,) for a pending UFA who they might not even get appropriate trade value for? I’m not saying it’s a bad move, I’m just not sure if it makes sense for the Coyotes.

They might not get their ask on Chychrun but they are certainly going to get less than that on Horvat when they try to flip him. They would need to be getting Horvat+ for them to possibly get more.

The “you can flip him” take is so much BS. If you are trading your best player you aren’t going back to your billionaire boss and saying “I know this has been going on for a year but I traded our best player locked up on a good deal for a pending UFA who we have no chance of re-signing”. Doing stupid things like that doesn’t just get you fired it kills your career. Needless to say AZ is never doing this trade.

To me it makes sense only if the pending UFA they're acquiring is the 3rd or 4th piece in the deal. Something like 1st, 2nd, prospect and 'pending UFA you can flip at the deadline'.

They'd have less leverage movng Horvat than chychrun so I don't see how this helps them.

Arizona wants picks and futures. And you thought offering a soon to be UFA was a good idea?!?

Why would Arizona do this? Horvat is a pending UFA. Good chance he wouldn't even sign with Arizona. Prospects and 1st round picks is what Bill Armstrong wants.

This is ridiculous. If this is what they could get back for Chychrun then they simply wouldn't trade Chychrun. He's a great player on a bargain contract for multiple seasons after this one. Arizona has stated that they're okay keeping Chychrun if they don't find the right deal. This is not even close to the right deal

This is legitimately one of the worst ideas I’ve ever seen on this site. What logic is Arizona using to give up the more valuable asset with cost control, for the less valuable pending UFA?

That’s fair, but as the primary piece it’s utter nonsense.
