There are better players that could be had for those two prospects. IMO, not much separates Peeke from Holl.

I don’t see CBJ trading Peeke.

Just my opinion. I’m not a big leafs fan so I just try to make predictions. IMO, Nyalnder and Malgin should play together. They have been great.

It seems like Keefe sees Gaudette as a player like Bunting.

I hope that’s the case for Leaf fans but I see him getting waived once Engvall comes back full healthy

His underlying numbers aren't great, he certainly doesn't cost more than Sandin. This is a major major overpay

Yeah, literally every fan base wants everyone to overpay. Always. But the reality of the matter is, GM's would never be able to get anything done if they only wanted to win in a landslide. This offer is a bad deal for TO. Sandin is going to be or is already better than Peake and has loads of potential. Hirvonen is a good prospect as well all because a guy fits this dream that a big stay at home defenceman makes the team better. In the Keefe system you have to be able to handle the puck and have some skill. Do we really need a younger Gudbranson?

Brodie isn’t getting younger. We are making sure to have a quality shutdown dmen for years to come, with the likes of niemela being ready in a year or two, I’d say we need a guy like him, ask Tampa how important Cernak is. They won 2 cups with 1 shutdown on each pair

CBJ should say yes value wise, but because of their positional needs they say no. You mentioned gavrikov above, but an actual RHD is valuable and teams don’t really like to trade them away when they don’t have a replacement.

I wonder if there’s a world where Toronto trades for Severson from NJD if he’s not resigned by the TDL and the devils are out of the playoff race.

Peake is nothing close to what Brodie is.

Well if you like him and cap works, go for it. Lord know, its an approach that served Tampa Bay well last few years.

My impression of Peake is that he is a solid dman, but would probably be interchangable with Holl. I personally haven't seen much that is similar to Cernak, who is more mobile, dynamic and can defend more his skating, especially for a big.

I never said he’s a Brodie. I did say we’re gonna need a replacement some time down the road. Peeke had x2 less giveaways. And double the blocks with triple the hits. They are different but I’m sure peeke would love to learn from Brodie. That type of dmen is very much needed on this team. Not every player has to be a puck carrying god.

If Devils are out of playoff race, there is decent chance Severson is moved at deadline. Leaf bloggers have been talking about Severson-to-Toronto moves since before they signed Brodie. Vancouver, Florida, Ottawa, Tampa Bay, Vegas, St. Louis, and...Winnipeg seem like the other most talked about destinations.

Seversson is a puck moving/scoring dmen and we don’t need that. I think Toronto wants and needs a physical shutdown that can play big minutes. And that’s exactly what peeke is, Rielly likes to control the puck everytime he’s out there so I really think they’re a solid match, the beauty and the beast lol.

Cernak is definitely better people don't realize that he's actually quite good, would be a top 4 lock for pretty much the entire league, it's just Tampa's D has been stacked the entire time he's been there. Maybe with McDonagh absence Cernak can show out more
