I'm not necesarily taking the interview with Dregger at face value but I truly hope that Dubois stays beyond this year, even if it's a mid-term contract.

PLD's next deal will kick in when he is 25, so if it were a four year deal then the following contract will be due when he is 29. He could still get another large payday with term.

A four year deal is probably the max he should do if he wants a two-contract strategy to maximize career earnings. A 2yr or 3yr deal might even be better from his perspective.

My thoughts as well, figured 4 years would be ideal for him.

Whats this Dreger interview about?

One thing that could see Dubois extending with Winnipeg is what the market is for him, he might not have the suitors he thinks he will unless he wants to go to a terrible team and that is if they even want him which they may not or if he's willing to leave money on the table with a good or contending team but he's left money on the table twice now so one would think he really wants to cash in on his next contract with a lot of term.

So if PLD and his agent find out there isn't as much interest in him as he thought he can always sign a mid length deal with the desperate Jets and wait till the market strengthens a bit and the cap goes up.

Sounded like a guy who has had a chance to chill out after the (self-inflicted) contract drama in June/July and wants everyone to re-focus on the on ice product as opposed to what happened in the summer. There were some notes that sounded like Hellebuyck's ones about the most important thing in his playing career is winning.

Dubois-Dreger interview (about 13 minutes)
