Hard not to think they’d taken a pretty big step back, but they were top offense and first overall last year…should still be a playoff team.

Just imagine them having a top 10 pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Oh wait......... grin

They're certainly not a bad team, but right now the odds are set at +550 for FLA "to miss playoffs." I do think they'll sneak in, but I definitely threw a flier wager on that.

IMO they're overrated by oddsmakers right now.

No. Everyone agrees that they got worse and their defence lives and dies with Ekblad. Still a playoff team, unless they get hit with the injury bug and Bob has one of his classic down years.

They had a ridiculous season last year, so even if it was the same roster you should expect them to have less points. Most people do see this squad taking a step back in that sense. I'm not sure in what context are you asking is this team overrated. If it's in the context of them being true contenders, I would say yes. That's assuming though that Knight and Lundell don't break out, if they both do and Bobrovsky is still good as well, they will probably have the goaltending and depth to make a deep run. They play in a very competitive division though so a 1st or 2nd round exit wouldn't be surprising at all and I wouldn't be surprised if they missed either.

Tkachuk is more overrated than the team as a whole.

Why does everyone think their depth is so bad. On defense yes but offense it’s better than last year before the giroux trade. Balcers and white are going to be equal to tippett and marchment. And lundell probably goes for 60-70 points. And cousins is no slouch either. Perfect bottom liner and shut down role.

Senators still have one more year. Their defense is on the same
Level as Florida with worse goaltending. And bruins won’t be able to play catch up in time. Florida will not have the season they had last year but there are still second or third in the division.

They beyond overachieved last year so hard to think even if they had the exact same team as last year, they'd regress a little. Now, I think they are 1 maybe two injuries away from being in tough.

They're still very good. Just that it can go south for them very quickly. Mainly on defense and down the middle but I guess that can be said about any team.

I think Huberdeau, Barkov & Weegar are the main reason why they haved succes. Now, 2 of them are gone.

I don't think somes players like Reinhart, Bennett, Verhaeghe & Ekblad will once again have their best carrer season like last year.

About Tkachuk, he can be the best or the worst, but I think that's can affect the chimestry of the team, especcially because Huberdeau & Weegar were very appreciated by teamates.

That Tkachuk deal was sooooo counter productive when their window is now.

Sure they get a 24 year old force that will play the next 7 years with Barkov, but the cost was steep. Really steep.

Fantastic idea, we should've kept huberdeau + weegar and signed them to bloated contracts / lost them for nothing in free agency, that would help the franchise out a lot!

Yeah exactly - I agree. Plus, I think the division got a little tighter. TOR and TBL are locks. OTT got a lot better. DET and BUF should both continue moving in the right direction. BOS is BOS and even MTL should be better than last year.

Given the landscape of the division, I think +550 is really good value on FLA missing playoffs.

I see them finish 6th in the ATL, and betwen 20th and 24th in the league.

And they didn't have their 2023 1st round pick because the pick is unprotected........

I'm not quite that bearish on their outlook, but I'm hopeful that they miss.

The point I am making is the window is now. Huberdeau and Weegar were huge parts. Tkachuk can replace Huberdeau, but Weegar is a blow. Big blow.

Winning a Cup using your own rentals is not a foreign concept.

Weegar is not gonna help any team trying to go far in the playoffs...

The guys hot garbage in the playoffs. He turns into yandle without the power play help. And had led to two game winners in the last two years against tampa. He was gonna be gone regardless.

Defensive is so bad. Just a bit better than Vancouver's defense. Forward core is pathetic aside from Tkachuk and Barkov. Balcers on second line is terrible. Starting to look like what Edmonton was a couple of years ago. Great core. Terrible depth. The bright spot is they have a decent prospect pool and have Knight
