Kerfoot is the swiss army knife...He can play shutdown with Lowry but jump into the top 6 in case of injuries

Only if you ignored his trade description of: "Its not a one for one trade as TOR doesnt need or have the money for Schmidt but Kerfoot is what we need and Schmidt is expendable"

There is definitely a fit for Kerfoot on Winnipeg. Kerfoot has a 10 team no trade list. There is a chance he can't go to Winnipeg, but we don't know.

Leafs really like Kerfoot. I can see him being traded for cap reasons for a pick though. But I can also see them holding on to him and running a 20 man roster to start the year.

Since Winnipeg Management refused to do what they should have and sold a few of their guys this off season and retool, this may be a good way to help boolster their team to help them go for the playoffs.

Just for cap reasons, the Jets can afford Kerfoot if the Leafs just "gifted" him to the Jets, and the Jets keep Schmidt. Kerfoot M NTC is in place which may have contributed to his not been traded yet.

Apparently Bowness wants the Jets dmen to be more aggressive and contribute more offense so there's potential for a guy like Schmidt to contribute more on the scoresheet.

I'm not sure the Jets want to move Schmidt or Dillon even though many here trade them here daily, not sure the Jets are interested in trading any of their 5 veteran dmen even with their glut of dmen. Have heard from some Jets media dudes that they've gotten calls about Dillon but who knows how much truth there is to that.

Schmidt has trade protection and he probably prefers Winnipeg over some destinations since its close to home for him.

I'd like to see Kerfoot with the Jets, he has trade protection though and who knows what Chevy is really thinking, maybe he's content to go with this lineup as is and see what happens.

Great comment.
My big issue is the amount of 1 way D on the jets and them trying to sneak them through waivers on a busy day. Also, Berdin needs waivers? man...they cant just lose this guy

A one-way contract means you get paid the same amount of money whether you're playing in the NHL or AHL, a two-way contract means you get paid a different(lower) amount when in the AHL, it has nothing to do with waiver eligibility.

I hope they don't lose Gawanke, Kovacevic or Berdin!

I think Gwanke is too much of an unknown to be picked up. Kovy is probably the only one imo
