Canes pass. No interest in paying for an injury prone and expensive 3LD. Unless you are dropping a first with Muzzin, Canes have no interest in taking on Muzzin.

Not to mention, JP was incapable of putting up 40 points when he flanked McDavid and Draisaitl. Do you really think playing him with Matthews and Bunting would change anything?

honestly yeah, I'm high on JP. He has great advanced numbers, he's gonna break out eventually

Couldn't agree more about JP.

Imo this team looked like it got worse. Instead of blowing 4 million on pj. Resign kampf he’s a very good third liner, great on the pk. He’s underrated as well. Jarnkork is more of a winger then a centre.

If bunting can play right wing then I’d put knies on the left wing with Matthews. That be a pretty good first line.

I get that he has insane advanced stats, but why does he get so much hype? He hasn’t been able to succeed offensively flanking 2 of the best offensive players of this generation, one of which actually being the best. He can’t play C, and I don’t think he plays his off wing. Outside of his insane advanced stats, he is just an average middle 6 winger. I mean, there was a reason why he got dropped to the 4th line. So, why is everyone so eager to jump straight to overpayments for an average middle 6 winger?

Those 2 players were in on 77% of his points. Even Abdelkader put up better numbers and all he had was Datsyuk bouncing the puck off of him.

When was Puljujarvi on the 4th line? I must have missed that shift.

Puljujarvi played with the best players even when he wasn't producing because he made them better. McDavid and Draisaitl had insane goal shares with Puljujarvi and rather ordinary goal shares without him. Sometimes you need a defensive conscience on the line, although Puljujarvi is much more than that.

McDavid with JP, 604:18: 3.38GF - 1.49GA = 69.39 GF%
McDavid w/o JP, 723:31: 3.23GF - 2.90GA = 52.70 GF%

McDavid with JP: 3.82 xGF - 2.41 xGA = 61.26 xGF%
McDavid w/o JP: 3.24 xGF - 2.45 xGA = 56.93 xGF%

The question you should be asking is: why on earth would Edmonton trade this guy for a mediocre, undersized LW prospect and a mid-round pick?! That's a ridiculous offer for a guy who has a proven record of outplaying elite NHLers.
