Team: 2022-23 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 26, 2022
Published: Sep. 26, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
NYI
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (DAL)
DAL
  1. Bellows, Kieffer
  2. 2023 4th round pick (NYI)
2.
NYI
  1. 2023 1st round pick (COL)
COL
  1. Pageau, Jean-Gabriel
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Colorado can't go into season with Rodriquez as their 2nd line center. PJG brings a good face off guy, good 2 way center who will score 20 goals in that line up and giving them much needed defense at the forward spot.
3.
NYI
  1. Motte, Tyler
  2. 2023 5th round pick (OTT)
OTT
  1. Bailey, Josh
  2. 2023 6th round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
I Know Ottawa fans say "No" but they will be competing for a playoff spot. At the deadline, Bailey is the perfect fit for this team to help them in the playoffs. Really good number in the playoffs. Can still play an effective 2 way game.
4.
NYI
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (OTT)
TOR
  1. Parise, Zach
Additional Details:
This can go with any good playoff team. At $750K (league min), Parise still has a incredible motor. After a Horrible first half of the season, Parise bounces back and still scores 15 goals as well as being a spark plug for the islanders.
5.
NYI
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (PIT)
  2. 2024 6th round pick (PIT)
PIT
  1. Varlamov, Semyon
Additional Details:
Jarry hasn't been good in the playoffs the last few years. He's also always hurt. Pittsburgh feels the window is still open for a few years with resigning Malkin and Letang. Make sense to bring in a goalie like Vary for a year or two to go along side Jarry.

Holmstrom has literally been the best winger I’ve seen play with Barzal in the past season and I’m not happy about it lol. That being said I’m not putting him on the third line so o can prop up Palmieri. Holmstrom reminds me a lot of a young Niederreiter.

Why is everyone so down on the Isles? The makeup of the team is not bad whatsoever. Elite goaltending, the defense has been improved ten fold, and the forward group is half decent.

Giving up after a preseason game? It couldn't have been THAT bad

avs arent going into the second with E-Rod as their 2C, they have newhook and rantanen as well

a 1st for Pageau is an easy decline. Hes not a 2C, he is a 3C who makes too much

COL isn’t trading a 1st in 23 for a guy that puts them over the cap and that they don’t need.

Penguins would’ve beat the Rangers in 5 games if Jarry played the entire series. He had one bad playoff run and that was it. He was one of the best in the league last year and is finally falling into his own. I’m good on giving up assets for an aging goalie who’s just gonna get worse.

The veterans don't care at all about these games.

All that really matters is seeing how the competition plays out for the few remaining roster spots.

Only reason they'd pick up Bailey would be in case of injuries so it's possible

I don't think Motte will be traded though, he will be kept all year

"Colorado can't go into season with Rodriquez as their 2nd line center."

They're a cup contending team with him at 2C.

This team is still too good to get Bedard, barring some insane lottery luck. They finished 20th overall last year, which got them the 13th pick - no ping pong ball luck, so they stayed at #13 - but the highest they could've moved up was to #3. They'd have to finish 22nd or worse to get the 11th pick and have the lowest shot to move up to #1.

Here are teams #22-32, in order, from last season: San Jose, Anaheim, Buffalo, Detroit, Ottawa, Chicago, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Seattle, Arizona, Montreal. I could buy Ottawa passing the Islanders this year maybe, but I honestly think that Sorokin and an upgraded LD depth chart is enough to keep them above the rest of that pack (also wouldn't be surprised to see a few teams ahead of them fall back down a little bit, too).

They're in the mushy middle, one of the worst spots to be. With the way this team is built, I'd rather just run with what's here without trading future assets away and see if they can make a run once they get in the playoffs.

That may be true but how many times does the 7 or 8 team get 1oa. And if you think for a guy like bedard theyll give it to NYI youre dreaming. He'll end up in ARI as they try to keep them afloat
