That's Hilarious. I don't agree and the statistics don't support your statement at all, but you're entitled to your opinion. Now that DAL acquired Lundkvist, it's certain to me Harley will be out of the lineup

I seriously doubt that.

Trevor Moore is a local boy and fan favorite who is emerging as a top-6 forward. Kylington hasn't shown that he's anything more than a third-pairing defenseman.

If Zetterlund isn't good enough to make the roster of a draft lottery team, why is he worth a second-round draft pick (even a future one)?

u didnt see Kylington last szn?

Yes, I saw him, hence my judgment. Unlike a Calgary fan, I have nothing invested in him, therefore I can be dispassionate about him. There's a reason why you Flames guys are always trading him in your ACGMs. Here, making my point, the OP has Nikita Zadorov as the fourth defenseman in your top 4 instead of Kylington.

Between both Teams, only Doughty and Dobson contributed more than Kylington last season and they received significantly more ice time too.

Kylington would for sure be 1LD in LA and very likely for the Islanders as well, both Teams need help Big Time at LD

Then why are you keeping Zadorov over him?

Zadorov offers More Size, Physicality and PK Ability + we’ll get better returns out of Kylington and/or Valimaki

So now you're contradicting your earlier comment that you don't know where my third pairing characterization is coming from.

I repeat my question to you and @Fire_Brad_Treliving: if Kylington is so good and/or has such a bright future, such that he is a potential first-pairing LD, then why are you trading him?

I just answered that question, but you never answered mine: What makes you believe Kylington is a 3rd Pairing D-Man, when he would be a 2LD on most NHL Teams and 1LD on Weak LD Teams like the Kings and Islanders

Kylington was 2LD all of last season for the Flames. We've since acquired Mackenzie Weegar, which pushes Kylington down and actually makes him expendable, especially given we have Noah Hanifin already. We'll keep Zadorov for his Size, but want to move Kylington & Valimaki out and use their combined $4mil to bolster our forward group. We also have another LD Prospect in Connor Mackey who is NHL ready and much cheaper

We have amazing depth at LD, so much that we have NHL quality LD's playing in the AHL, but many can't here on this forum get their heads wrapped around the fact they're down there because we have superior guys ahead of them and not because they're not NHL Ready. They keep under valuing them simply because they did not play in the NHL much last season or because the new projected depth charts have Kylington at 3LD now that Weegar has been added. It's very short sighted and not accurate or a true picture of the quality of LD Depth CGY has

Your own statement that Hanifin and Zadorov would play ahead of him. I'm taking you at your word.

You either don't get it, which would be sad or you're simply trolling

CGY's 3rd Pairing LD would be a 2nd Pairing on MOST NHL Teams and on the Kings or Islanders they'd likely be playing on the 1st Pairing. CGY's AHL'ers would make most NHL Teams too: Mackey, Valimaki, DeSimone & Meloche for sure

The idea that Kylington would play ahead of the far more experienced and better defensively Mikey Anderson or Sean Walker is just silly.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Exactly how are they more experienced or better defensively? It's one thing to have an opinion, but stating it as if it's a fact simply because you wish/want it to be true makes you look silly, especially when all the relevant statistics & information is readily available on sites like hockey-reference:

Kylington has played more regular season games (168) than both Michael Anderson (117) and Sean Walker (162, who's also an RD btw)

Regular Season Career Stats: Kylington 14G + 33A = 47PTS +30 in 168 GP vs. Anderson 4G + 16A = 20PTS +10 in 117GP and Walker 13G + 41A = 54PTS -34 in 162GP
Even Strength GF/60 & GA/60 Stats: Kylington GF/60: 2.9 GA/60: 2.1 vs. Anderson GF/60: 2.5 GA/60: 2.2 and Walker GF/60: 2.4 GA/60: 3.3

Anderson is decent defensively, but doesn't score or contribute offensively. Walker can score but can't defend. Kylington is clearly the more complete player contributing both Offensively AND Defensively. Anderson should be your 3LD and Walker should be Traded ASAP

Your insistence in wanting to disagree with me is blinding you from the simple reality that Kylington >> Anderson & Walker

Nobody? This OP, a Flames fan, is trading him here and in at least one subsequent post and, in fact, trades Kylington in 8 of his last 9 Calgary ACGMs featuring trades (as opposed to lineups).

Harley is already better and more NHL ready than Välimäki is. And we have Heiskanen, Lindell and Suter as well. We have more LHDs than RHDs. DAL uses Miro on the right side specifically because we want to have a place for Harley in the lineup.

I told you Harley would be out of the lineup

Doesn’t help your point considering that Valimaki was put on waivers.

Harley wasn’t ready for the NHL and sadly did disappoint (like Dellandrea last year) and will require a year in the AHL to improve. Dellandrea did great this year in training camp so I’m giving Harley another year to do the same.

Also, Valimaki wouldn’t of made the Stars roster if he was playing there. On the left side they have Heiskanen, Lindell, and Suter who’d play before him.

I was poking fun at the premium DAL pays for their Young D-Men at the time, but also felt Valimaki might thrive playing with other Finnish Players

Given they're playing Heiskanen at 1RD, I'm confident Valimaki would have beat both Joel Hanley and Will Butcher for the 3LD spot in the lineup and would have played on the left side of Hakanpaa

Probably, only thing is that Heiskanen will most likely play on the left side, with Hakanpaa.

As per Saad and DeFranks (our two most credible insiders), the D pairing’s will most likely be:

Heiskanen-Hakanpaa
Lindell-Lundkvist
Suter-Miller

And I told you no one would pay for Välimäki, he'd only be taken from waivers.

Also, I trust this decision is only a momentarily one. He'll be back.

Also all things considered assigning him to AHL and giving him that ice time is a much better idea than using him at a sheltered bottom-pair or healthy scratch role.
