Can't see Asplund and Bryson being scratched for Hino and Pilut. Asplund was their best defensive forward last season and had a ton of line chemistry with Olofsson.

Unfortunately I think one of Peterka or Quinn may even end up starting out the season in Rochester if they can't earn a roster spot in camp over Vinny. They need ice time so being healthy scratched won't be an option since they are both waiver exempt still.

Less than 0% is wildly inaccurate. Asplund puts up some cute defensive analytic numbers. 0 offense. You need offense in this league. Girgs and okposo can do fine defensively then hino is the speedy winger to bring some offense to the 4th

you asplund riders are in for disappointment when they put out a lineup with 4 scoring option lines and asplund is a rotating 13th forward. Stop drooling over analytics and watch his play. He does very little other than get sticks on pucks which can be done by others who can actually do something offensively

And yet last season 14 of the 15 forwards he played the most ice time with all had better defensive metrics when he was on the ice. I think you need to watch his play more, because the player I watched last season did a better job at suppressing shots than any other forward on the team. A team that was the 6th worst in shots against and 8th worst in goals against needs better defensive play from their forwards, not a guy who can score 4 or 5 more goals in a season at the expense of also allowing more.

He showed he can pot the puck at the WC. He was the best player for Sweden, as evidenced by the fact he led the team in TOI (even more than Dahlin). He is in the top echelon of the league for defensive metrics across multiple categories. 27 points on the 4th line is not 0 offense. Our team's problem shouldn't be scoring goals but it will be keeping the puck out of the net, hence why having a guy like Asplund in the lineup every night is crucial. I'd rather have him in the lineup and Peterka in the A to be 100% honest.

I was looking forward to seeing what we had with him before he left for the khl. I think it's fair to say he was artificially blocked because of bad management a few years ago. I remember him putting up impressive offensive numbers in Rochester, and being at least a passable defender. I would still bet Bryson gets the spot, he's punched the clock longer, but pilut is definitely an interesting player, and he should get a decent look this year. I can see pilut being first guy called up for injury, even if it's a right that gets hurt.
