Don't think it makes sense for either team.

Holloway should be stepping up as the 3C and the Oilers need more cap flexibility then this.

Hawks aren't going to be interested in 2 late 2nds for Toews and taking on a bunch of cap unless they feel they can flip Barrie for a at least a 2nd.

Toews has to agree to go to Edmonton obviously.

Cap dump
Cap dump
24 year old prospect that will have UFA rights before he's any good to a rebuilding team
Sub .890 goalie in the AHL that spent more time in the ECHL last year
2 picks near the bottom of the round.

What sense are you talking about?

Toews is aged and his best years are obviously behind him, Chicago wants to lose and is rebuilding right now, everyone wants out, probably best for the team to acquire 2 picks rather than one high pick to speed up the rebuild if they want to become a winning team during Jones's tenure as a Hawk

So your theory is to get two lesser lottery ticket picks as opposed to what could potentially be more of a sure thing in one of the deepest drafts in a very long time? Toews best years are behind him, no doubt but we just saw 18 games of 33 year old Claude Giroux (50%) traded for 1st, bubble player on a deeper team than Edmonton for the past few years and a 3rd. Giroux's production was certainly better but the notion that a couple of lottery tickets, cap dumps and non factor prospects get Toews this season is mental. Plenty of other teams will pay more than this.

Take out barrie, Benson, and rodrigue and the hawks might accept if toews struggles this season.

I don’t think this gets it done. It is essentially a offensive RHD, which they don’t need Barrie, because they have Jones, and Murphy on the right. Rodrigue who is nothing special, Foegele, who underperformed last year, but I do have hope for him, Benson, who won’t be anything other than a bottom 6 guy, and two picks. I do think Benson has been solid thus far, and would like to see him get some games this year on the Oilers. We will definitely have to find a way to offload Barrie in the off-season, or at the deadline, however, in my opinion, no way Chicago is the team to take him.
