Potential 23-24 team

Created by: GiggywithGibby
Team: 2023-24 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 7, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade explanation:

Ty Dellandrea doesn't seem to have much upward mobility in Dallas as he is stuck down in their depth chart with a number of more talented players ahead of him. As the old contracts of Ben and Seguin continue to age I can see access to the middle six being clogged up for years to come. He works hard and skates well, has decent size and I think would be a good fit for the Ducks middle six.

Jason Robertson's size and skillset require him to have a top 6 role on the team, but with several stars in their prime, its rather unlikely that spot opens up to him any time soon. Toronto's top lines both need puck diggers and little Robo's size will make that difficult for him. He just doesn't seem to fit in with the way the organization is heading, and Matthew Knies is the better LW prospect, equal in skill but with the size and weight to be a power forward.

Henrique traded away with retention to chase a cup, assuming he is still playing well. His service to this team has been great, and we wish him well. If we don't trade him away we can leave little Robo in the AHL for a season until a top 6 spot opens for him during the 24-25 season.

Free Agent signing:

Severson is one of many intriguing RD UFA's in this off season, and the Ducks will be looking to buy a RD. Thinking more long term with the offensively minded LD prospects in the pipeline, I want someone with size, speed, and mostly good instincts that can be more defensively minded but complementary to help in training up whoever slots in on 2LD. Needs to be capable of big minutes and big hits. I think Severson is that guy. Other options are Weegar, Zub, or potentially going after Bear. There is also the options of resigning either Klingberg or Shattenkirk.

The Toronto treads is invalid as that draft would have already pass don't now if that was a mistake or not but just letting you know

The assumption would be to make the trade this coming off season prior to the draft, before the roster for this year.

Stars pass. Good chance Dell makes opening night roster.
Best you could do was a third rounder?

I've seen everything from he's worth a 2nd to he isn't going to get a QO from you guys, so I see an early third round pick as fair.

A veteran 60 pt forward who can play center at less than 3 mil, especially during the final year of a depressed cap, I think he can pull a late first round pick. Again, NJ is a stand in, not necessarily the team to target.

Delly hasn’t developed as quickly, but he’s still a VERY promising young player for the Stars. Wyatt, Bourque, and Stank having higher offensive ceilings don’t make Delly expendable. You need talent in the bottom six. He’s likely a more talented but less physical Dickinson. Which isn’t ideal for a first round pick but still a guy I want around
