The Caps are going to have Strome/McMichael at 2C, I don't see Toews as enough of a worthwhile upgrade, especially as I worry he won't fit into the way Laviolette has people play.

Why would Carolina give up a first round pick for Kurashev?

Way too much, dallas' first rounder is gonna prob be in the middle of the pack range, the rangers' is gonna be in the late 20s/possibly 30-32, and othmann is going to hold more value than 1 playoff run of kane. Can't compare a trade for kane to a trade for Giroux as Tippett struggled in florida and othmann hasn't played a single game yet aside from his 2 point preseason game the other night. Bill Zito also isn't that bright lol.

One first rounder too many for Kane and you while I don't think the caps are a good fit anymore Toews' reputation still probably brings back a first.

could be a middle six guy. Hell maybe even throw him in the 4th line

Maybe if Eller is gone, the Caps could look at Toews, but he doesn't really fill a need for the Caps right now. Down the middle they/re set, with Kuz, Strome/McMichael, Eller, Dowd, and Protas+Lapierre as callups, and aren't really in need of any veteran leadership Toews would provide, so I don't see them getting older/slower, especially for a 2nd rounder.

Agreed. If Kane pulls a Giroux and says "Only NYR" that'll put a limit on the return.

I believe Chicago will have the choice of NYR VS Dallas 1st rounder, but under the following condition: If Dallas keeps their 2023 1st (top 10), Chicago get's NYR 2023 1st rounder. If Dallas is outside of playoff position at the time of the trade, it'll change the prospects included from NYR side.

I could definitely see this if Kane says that:
Cuylle
Berard
Dallas' 1st (w/ condition stated above)
NYR 2024 2nd rounder
Conditional 2023 3rd Round Pick (turns into 2023 2nd if NYR make ECF & Kane plays 50% of games)

This is more than Philly got for Giroux but I do think Kane is the better player, and also worth this sacrifice by the NYR.

Id rather keep dallas' first and draft a center, something we truly need.
