Description
I know it's only pre-season but... I've been pretty impressed with some of our rookies. Nemec against the Islanders looked pretty solid, Zetterlund's got a great game, Holtz made some good plays. I know Vanecek and Schmid didn't get tested to much, but they both looked good. Let me know what rookies and players you guys have liked in pre-season so far.

Nemec has been nice, but certainly in the "let him cook" mode. Zetterlund was impressive.

Nemec has looked better and better every time he's hit the ice, definitely has been an adjustment to NA ice. I can't see him getting more than 9 games this season, but he's going to be real fun to watch. Aggressive as hell. He pinches SOOO much and he's a bit like Severson where he sometimes just finds himself playing in front of the net like he's a forward.

Zetterlund is a lock for a roster spot for me and already proved that last season. He's the perfect type of guy to fill out your bottom-6 and can possibly move up if there are injuries.

Holtz definitely looks ready. I don't think he's a lock yet, but I'm glad that they're actually giving him every opportunity to prove himself rather than sticking him deeper in the lineup like they did last season.

Is it just me or does Zetterlund kind of remind you of Parise? Not so much the offense but the hard work and grind.

I'm excited for Nemec, but I would like to see him in the AHL this season and just kill it down there. Then make the team next year.

One guy to who I think quietly every season who just keeps getting better and better is Sharangovich. He kind of has a quiet game but has a great shot, great penalty killer and doesn't hurt the team at all.

Sharangovich is the exact kind of depth scoring the Devils need. I'd love if Fitz locked him down to a 4-5yr deal at a decent rate.

Imagine a 3rd line of Sharangovich-Mercer-Zetterlund. That would be a solid 3rd line.

I'd love that line for sure, just need another top 6 forward in the mix. I doubt we land Pasta, but finding the right fit with Hischier and Bratt may be as important as landing a big name.
