Can't be giving up 4 1sts especially with how good the Atlantic is. If you don't make the playoffs for 2-3 years, considering Detroit, Ottawa, Toronto, Tampa, and Florida are all good and fairly young, the only team that might fall off is Boston in a few seasons, and Montreal is probably behind Buffalo in their rebuild, you can't afford to miss out on 3-4 potentially top 10 firsts.

They need righty d and a goalie more. That being said you can’t criticize adding Robertson. That could potentially put Buffalo’s top six in the same category as Ottawa.

Cozens may fill that role. Otherwise I think Savoie will. Kid is a stud.

Wouldn't the Sabres be much better in the long run, keeping their four first rounders and spend 10m on a UFA(s) next summer? It's a losing game for non playoff teams especially to be risking their first round picks. So you are paying Robertson a UFA price and lose four rounders too? Sorry, it's. losing proposition for the Sabres, and really one reason their are so few offer sheets......ever.

My god this is so true. I don't know what Dallas will get if they move him, but a lot of these proposals are the equivalent of 3-4 mid firsts. Then you get to pay him too. I'm not sure there's that many teams that can take on a 9 million dollar player, don't negotiate against yourself. Every neutral fan and talking head has buffalo finishing 7th or 8th in the division, so that pick alone should be a good pick in a very good draft. Center-defense-goalie-wing. That's how I think you build a team.

Id rather just give up the picks like you did. Idk why people are so attached to those when they have so many prospects and picks already. They can then take the best of their prospects and move the surplus later for another piece or more picks

I disagree. UFAs are increasingly less interesting. Sabres have a deep pool and probably end up moving some of their prospects as it is. Id much rather give up the picks. Sabres are probably going RD next year anyway and there will be good ones available in the 2nd round

The Sabres are already better than Detroit and will hang with Ottawa. Boston and Toronto are already falling off. After adding Roberston theyd only be better. Adding Roberston, none of those 1sts are top 10

Your goaltending tandem is kinda mid, and your defense outside of Dahlin and Power isn't all the fantastic. Sure adding Robertson makes your team better, but he won't instantly bring playoffs. Also this makes competing in, per say, year 3 of having Robertson, as you need to re sign guys, and if you wanted to add a player at the deadline you don't have firsts to trade. Would it be cool, yes. Is it smart, no. Completing the rebuild the slow way is the way to go, as then more guys will be in their prime, and you might be able to offload a Skinner contract with 3-4 less years on it.
