Even Holl doesn't help the cap much.....Getting rid of 2m, but then replaced with 750,000 (inferior) player. Looks like it has to be Kerfoot. But gotta think Tavares is on LTIR for 10 league games which saves the Leafs about 1m cap.

I agree and if Malgin/Robertson is playing the way they are, I could see them replacing Kerfoot (Robertson - Jarnkrok - Nylander). Also, that cap will be valuable for having a 23 man roster and for the trade deadline

You know who hasn't signed yet and is on a PTO with the Canes? Calvin De Haan. If we can snatch him from them for league min, that caliber of a player at league min doesn't hurt

If he is on LTIR you guys don't generate extra cap I thought?

Tavares can't go on LTIR anyway. He's only expected to miss 1 week. He would need to miss the first 24 days of the regular season to be eligible. The thing to look out for now is Engvall's re-evaluation.

I don't know how the Leafs can move either without admitting they're going to be a bad team next year. How can you go into the season with your center depth as Matthews-Kampf-Gaudette-I don't even know who?

I would rather keep Engvall, he is good defensively and will help make the shutdown line a lot stronger. With Jarnkrok, Kerfoot is more expendable

I mean as a LTIR situation. We don't know the extent of his injury like we do Tavares and Liljegren, just that it will be re-evaluated in the coming days. If Engvall goes on LTIR, this is a problem that gets kicked down the road for a month.

I wonder if it could lead to Engvall getting traded if that happens. Of course Malgin and Robertson would need to be producing but someone not named Järnkrok, like Nak (since he's Kerfoot's future replacement) would need to make him seem expendable on the PK, which means being able to produce opportunities shorthanded in addition to being a solid pker.

Yes. But let's say Tavares misses 10 games or about one/tenth of the season.....the Leafs would save 1.1m in cap minus the 100,000 replacement player, so 1m in total.

They wouldn't save any cap cause they are using the LTIR tho? They cant generate cap when they would be over if he was just on regular IR

Jarnkrok can play Center, nylander too. We have depth to cover the loss of Tavares, and it’s only for 1 week
