I think the only way the Kings are in on Hedman is if Doughty calls it a career.

They aren't going to get rid if him most likely. The only guy who might get moved is Stamkos because there might be no way around it. Perhaps if management changes Hedman may get moved but doubt it especially if he's still good.

In two years time, they probably won't be targetting him regardless assuming they didn't have their d-core already determined.

Yeah, the Kings aren't going to be ponying up that type of return for a player who will be 33 or 34. No thanks.

Hedman and Stamkos should play all their careers in Tampa

Their AAVs have been great and their extensions should be cap friendly too

They'll need some draft picks to pay dividends though, to provide quality play for low money

Oh I agree. There is a problem if the Kings are targeting a RD rental.

But if Doughty somehow retires early or is out for a really long time, Hedman would provide the leadership and fill a nearly identical role with the Kings.

Very very low chance this happens with Doughty signed to 27-28 and Clarke looking like his replacement.

I don't see why TB trades him? They'll clearly still be trying to win playoff games in 2 years with a bunch of their guys in their prime. Hedman at 33/34 is still a Norris candidate. He'll probably resign a team friendly deal like most the team does anyway....

Teams would be lining up around the corner for this guy, even for as a rental. We're talking about a difference of winning a cup or not type of player.

Rumors are the cap could be 87-88 mil for the 24-25 season. Plenty of space.

Who is Michael Carcone? And why is he making almost 8 mil a year?

Hedman is a LD, if he was a RHD then maybe but still unlikely. Tampa won't be giving him up anyways.

Yeah, for sure it isn't happening, but the Kings have far more depth on the right side (Clarke, Durzi, Spence, Roy, Grans, etc.) than left side (Bjornfot, Moverare).

I meant more the type of player we would need if Doughty wasn't here and to address the left side is the only way this could make sense, and even then I don't see them paying this much for a rental unless they wanted to sign him longer term and he'd want to get paid from 33-37, that doesn't sound great for us.

1) Drew Doughty would like to speak with you.

2) I doubt the Kings are trying to rush it, so they almost certainly say no because it's not in their interest to acquire an older, offensive defenseman for a lot of future which could be better used on a longer-term pieces.

Forget Stamkos going anywhere before his contract expires !! He has on multiple occasions stated he WILL BE a member of the Lightning at least until his ends. He won't waive his FULL NMC the lightning can't even buy him out. They'd save less than 700k couldn't get a league minimum salary replacement for his spot with the cap they save.

Ah okay, I thought you meant to replace Doughty in position not just leadership.

Yeah, we will see what happens. If they can make the cap work with him next year (which they should- they will have 1.85m/spot to fill 5 spots) then I fully expect him to retire there or at least play there until he's 36. My point was if there were a time where one of the core would be moved it, would be next year.
