Top-10 protect that 2023 first round pick and Ottawa probably accepts

What in that package do you think actually entices CAR to trade Necas?

Not bad.

RFA:

Fischer: 1,225,000M (needs to have a bounce back season. Solid bottom six forward)
Hayton: 3,600,000M (great young player. Probably will be there through the rebuild)
Jenik / Kolyanchonok 965,000 (solid player. Hopefully will become full time NHL players)
Maccelli: 1,875,000M (solid broom six player. Replaces Ladd)
Moser / Prosvetov 2,000,000M (solid players. Nothing else much to say)
Soderstrom: 1,100,000M (solid d-man. Should become a NHL player)
Timmins: 900,000K (he can become a solid top six player but needs to be healthy)
Necas: 4,500,000M (needs to have a bounce back season)
Brännström: 2,000,000M (same as Necas)

UFA:

Matthews: 13,000,000M (nothing much to say)
Gavrikov: 4,000,000M (great top six d-man. Don’t think he leaves CBJ. They are working on an extension)
Toews: 8,500,000M (one of the best d-man of the generation)
Hellebuyck: 8,000,000 (needs to have a bounce back year)
Dumba: 5,589,000M (solid top six d-man)

Trades:

All the trades are good but the Sens won’t trade Jarventie.

Lines:

Keller - Matthews - Guenther
Hayton- Bedard - Schmaltz
Jarventie - Cooley - Maccelli
Crouse - Geekie - Necas

Toews - Soderstrom
Gavrikov - Dumba
Moser - Brännström

Hellebuyck - Prosvetov

Massively overrating Brannstrom. He has very little value.

I understand this is a best case sinario but the chances of Matthews leaving for his home town in super slim at best. Same way McDavid wouldn't just come to Toronto. These type of players have loyalty like Crosby, Ovechkin, etc. Toronto will easily make Matthews the highest paid player and will likely give him a 4 year deal to make sure he can max out every 4 years.

I also don't think Arizona would even need Matthews if your center depth was Bedard and Cooley. I still have a feeling Bedard can be the next McDavid. Having that 1-2 punch down the middle for 10 plus years is huge for them. Having Matthews in there only lowers the chances that one or both of those players don't reach their max potential.

I love Lamoureux, but that package doesn’t really interest the Canes.

Yeah sounds like the max I'd give for Chychrun

2023 1st round pick (OTT)
Järventie, Roby : that's another 1st round pick value asset, Dorion said he doesn't want to trade him but would have to get this done
Brännström, Erik : easily still 2nd round pick value (look at Lundkvist return who is just 1 year younger). Huge candidate for a breakout this season
Hamara, Tomas : instant success pick, 3rd round pick who will gain a lot of value during the season
2024 5th round pick (OTT)

I value this package as at least 2 firsts and 2 seconds. Not paying a cent above.

Oh, yeah it won't happen because :

- if he earns another bridge, it will be way less than 2.9 AAV

- if he breaks out, he will sign for more and for longer
