Just speaking as a Nashville fan, there’s no way we do that. It would tank our team for the next year as well as many to come.

Rangers not doing that...way too much to give up for a player who they wont be able to extend- and if they do extend him, then they'll have to pay to scuttle one of the big contracts they already have- as well as make less than optimal contract decisions on probably both LaF and KA Miller....not to mention the hole open with Chytl gone. No Thanks!

You are not going to get any team's entire farm for Meier. Sharks could probably get 2 quality prospects, a 1st, and a roster player or two

Canes would be interested as long as extension is worked out prior to trade

I think you are being a bit aspirational with 6-7 piece deals. Debrincat is a better player than Meier is, and his return was a 1st, 2nd, and distant future 3rd. 7th OA pick, but still only 3 pieces, and Ottowa got a year of him under cost control.

If you are going to trade him away, it has to be to a team who will have the space to give him his QO. Anaheim, Arizona, Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit, or Montreal. Chicago is still a seller, and I think Arizona isn't ready to start buying yet either, leaving you with Anaheim, Buffalo, Detroit, and Montreal. I left Ottowa out because they will be resigning the Cat.

You may be able to do something with Dallas where you hockey trade Meier and Robertson, but that deal doesn't help either side really.

That still seems steep, TBH.

Yeah, that's basically if they get the Chychrun ask for Meier but unless he's going to a contender on TDL and he's having a great year, its probably not happening.

don't think any of the teams will make these trades as they're giving up way too much for the guy.

You’re asking for way more than what the Sabres got for Eichel or what the hawks got for DeBrincat. At most, you’re getting a top prospect, a solid young NHLer, and a first. No team is giving up multiple high end prospects and picks for Meier.

I'd take that as a Caps fan, though it would be hard to say bye to Lapierre. Probably remove the ability to get 2 1sts though.

Meier would likely get priced as a rental until he signs extension. Late 1st, prospect, player.

It is steep if he signs an overpaid deal, but if he goes 6+ years at 7.5-8 mil then it would be considered a good trade for both sides
