Lines vs Toronto tomorrow

Created by: Claesson4Norris
Team: 2022-23 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 29, 2022
Published: Sep. 29, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Fun to see Crookshank and Boucher getting look with Stützle. Should be a good opportunity for them.

Getting our first look at the probable 3rd pairing, Holden-JBD. Holden is a great vet to have mentoring a young RD in a 3rd pair role. Bernard-Docker has looked really strong defensively so far, so hopefully as the season roles on that should be a 3rd pair that can legitimately take 5v5 shifts away from Chabot, which is really important for Ottawa's long and short term success.

Love this line up for tomorrow,

I agree with a couple of things here.
1 - I love moving guys like crookshank and Boucher with Stuzle, they have showed for real good offensive potential in camp so far, so line them up with Stuzle and see if they can keep up, this will go a long way in seeing how high there up side is there if they can generate some goals with Stuzle.

Also I fully agree the right place for JDB is 3rd pairing, this great for him because Chabot plays so much and with different partners, he can slide in and get some extra shifts with Chabot. The downside to this however is that it leaves Branstrom off the roster, who I also think deserves to be on the roster because Branstrom won't get paired with Sanderson or JDB, even though I really think a Sanderson Branstromm pairing would be great.

I haven't seen any of the games so far but why would they not put Stutzle with his actual line of D-Cat and Giroux?

Sens are splitting squads this weekend to focus on special teams. Because they are sticking with the same PP1 from last year (7,9,18,19,72) Stützle is the odd man out, not getting a chance to play with his 5v5 line with Cat and G. Personally I'd want to double shift him this weekend. That line needs the reps together.

Yes. He will honestly be there best player next year. But it would be way better if they played together, so they get to have a chance to find they're chemistry when the season starts. I still find it dumb that they don't try to put Debrincat on there PP1.

Will be a good opportunity for two young wingers to be sure.

As for Brannstrom, he's been hit or miss so far this pre season. I'm not sure if he's even been better overall than Jacob Larsson so far. Right now my guess is that he's going to be the 7th D. Maybe he really improves and you end up with Brannstrom-Holden, but idk. Brannstrom shouldn't play over Holden, and idk if he's pushing JBD out of a spot right now.

Hamonic seems to be the big question mark atm. I've liked him and Sanderson thus far, but I don't know how confident I am in him over a full season. If we get a few months in and he struggles I wouldn't be shocked to see something like Chabot-JBD Sanderson-Zub and Brannstrom-Holden. Or Sanderson-Holden Brannstrom-JBD if Bernard-Docker doesn't look ready to play with Chabot.

I get the rationale. Ottawa needs to hit the ground running, so starting with the PP group that has built in chemistry makes sense. Cat is Ottawa's best player, he'll be on PP1 before long, but it's not a terrible idea to wait til he's more in sync with the team.
