Love the trade. I think it makes sense for both sides, WPG obviously getting the better player but TOR is getting some much needed cap relief. I wonder if they wait to make this move now though until JT is back as they are under the cap with him on LTIR.

Great points. Although Kerfoot is the logical cap trade by the Leafs, he is also needed at centre in case one of Matthews or Tavares is injured. Kerfoot's M NTC may be a factor if he can be traded to certain teams.

Tavares won't get ltir. It will be liljegren on ltir. This would be less than FC's for Toronto as I don't think he makes our roster and hits waivers. Seems like kerfoot should return something useful. But who knows with this market.

Fair, I personally think Kerfoot SHOULD get something in return but in this market I genuinely have no clue anymore lol.

Look what Vegas had to do get cap space. They gave away 7m Pacioretty who in the last two seasons was a pro rated 70 point player per season. Flames gave up a first to get rid of 6.3m Monahan for one year. Yeah, who has clue what the market it. But it sure looks like "Cap is King"

Hernia. But should be back by late October. But his 1.4m cap doesn't help the Leafs that much even when on LTIR.
