This really wouldn’t work, and a 21 man roster won’t work. Barrie is a cap dump, so you’d probably have to add more

If Edmonton was to actually make an offer for chychrun it would certainly have to include broberg because chychrun has term and is effectively taking his spot. Barrie doesn't make sense to include outside of cap purposes but offsets the balance with lefties and righties. Team is suppose to be highly competitive would think that having two experienced guys on both sides would be important. Nurse kulak on left side ceci and Barrie on the right side.

AZ has stated that they are willing to take cap back now and
Barrie-Chychrun are nearly the same hit
i think maybe there needs to be a 2nd in there as well but

I heard rumors that AZ asked for Broberg and Holland declined, same situation with Ottawa and Pinto, which makes me think that's why AZ has lowered their ask, 1 roster player, two B prospects, (or 1 A prospect) and a 1st, might need a 2nd in there

Barrie is absolutely not a cap dump. There are zero RHD who can be expected to score 50 points per season at just $4.5M per year. Ergo, Edmonton is NOT trying to move him right now.

They aren't trading Broberg for Chychrun. Armstrong asked for Broberg last year and Holland refused, breaking off talks. Now, Armstrong has reportedly lowered his ask, so 100% Broberg wouldn't be involved in a potential deal. Also, Holland made the decision in the summer to retain Kulak to fill the 2LD role, so there's really no reason for Edmonton to put up the winning bid for Chychrun.

Everything Spec says is just him trying to run Jesse out of town, He needs to be fired into the sun with Matheson and Virtanen

I think you're bang on.

Barrie in the last 4 seasons is 277GP - 34G - 153A - 187Pts - minus 2
That's 0.68pts/Gm (55.7pts per season average over 82 games)

He's not gonna win the Norris despite those numbers, but he certainly is NOT the cap dump everyone else is making him out to be. Plus he's making 4.5m for this year and next. That's good value for a dman putting up those numbers. All things considered he is on a decent cap hit & term, and for a team looking to put up points he fits the bill very well. It's just that the Oilers have his heir apparent in Bouchard and are lacking on the defensive side, making Barrie the odd man out.

Barrie
1st
2x "B" prospects (Samorukov + Lavoie)

That's more than fair.

The thing I see as a possibility is moving Barrie and switching Broberg to his offside, pairing him with Kulak or Chych, then you can run Nurse - Ceci for the hard matchups and Have the 2nd and 3rd pairs pretty much running even ice time

Did Chych ever run the PP?

Their ask is down but it still requires an A-prospect and a 1st (there will also have to be a cap component but that's to their benefit if they get a good quality player), more recently it was an A-prospect, as 1st and a young former 1st/good roster player (at last years deadline was 4 good pieces). The Oilers won't get him at this time if they aren't giving Holloway, Broberg, or Bourgault + a 1st. The ask may drop later but probably not until the deadline. I don't think any team will be giving that A-prospect that ARZ wants, maybe an A minus prospect or two B prospects as suggested with a 1st and quality player as the cap component.

I don't like Spec either, but he does have contacts in the Oilers organization. So when he says the Oilers are not trading Broberg or Holloway for Chychrun, I believe it. I've heard the same from other sources too.

I highly doubt Woodcroft would run a raw rookie in a position he's not used to.

Chychrun would most likely play his offside since he has the experience in doing so and his okay at it and not Broberg.

They did in a way, apparently now all they care about is a premium prospect+a 1st, of course most of these teams don't have the cap straight up to do that even if they wanted to which they don't, so they will be willing to take a cap dump with a sweetner as well in the trade, or they will end up with a quality player as the "cap dump". Teams don't want to give up that prospect that they are looking for though, so it doesn't really change much at this time.

In terms of the trade though, he would be a cap dump, he's not a player that ARZ will want or at least pretend that they don't, his main purpose in the trade would be the cap component. So, it's basically just a bonus for them that he is a quality player. Chychrun is a LHD but he would be replacing Barrie in the line up, the Oilers would still have 2 RHD in Bouchard and Ceci, so wouldn't be too much an issue for them. They just wouldn't want to give Holloway or Broberg which are the guys that Arizona wants at this time.

I dont think it would make sense for the Oilers to move either of them for Chychurn, especially cause it would be one of them + a 1st.

A smaller add onto Pool Party and the first would make more sense to me at least

Broberg would likely go back to the minors and come back next year as 7th D. Edmonton plays 7 D men.

Fully agreed only reason why I suggest brobergs name is just because the roster spot he is expected to grow into would be filled. I personally in no way would want to see that happen. Chychrun in my opinion is not only heavily overrated but also completely unnecessary with this roster.

Honestly I think Holland has moved on. He signed Kulak to a 4 year deal in the summer to play 2LD and transition to 3LD as Broberg emerges, I really don't think they're interested in Chychrun at all any more. So with their dearth of skilled RW's and Bourgault needing at least half a season in the AHL, I don't see a deal around Puljujarvi working either.

Edmonton is planning on playing a 21 man roster actually. The 4th line really only plays special teams.

I personally think trading a second and Samorukov at the deadline for someone like Ryan graves as a rental is the more astute move. Then trade a 5th for Sam gagner and we are full roster.
