Dadonov has no business playing for the cup champs. It's a small sample size but he was awful defensively in the games he's played during training camp. He had 2 turnovers that lead to goals by CHL players in the last few minutes of the game against the Jets

In any case, if you want him, the Habs accept.

Thanks for the honest feedback. Usually fans tend to overvalue their own players so it's refreshing to see an unbiased response.

I figured that the Avs have a lot of good two-way forwards throughout the lineup but are a bit lighter on pure goalscorers or skilled forwards after Burakovsky and Kadri left. Adding a LHS forward like Dadonov would give them another offensive weapon for the middle 6 and PP2.

I think the Avs are aware of this need which is why they signed Galchenyuk to a PTO, and assuming that Newhook can handle 2C then a scoring forward could be what they go after at the deadline.

I am a Habs fan, but like a lot of Quebec-born fans... I still want to see the south-western Nordiques win!

If I was the AVS I would target Jake Evans on the Habs. This management team is underestimating him in a big way. You could hit another Arturri Lehkonen there, and probably for a 2nd round pick...

Ottawa is aiming to be playing competitive hockey til the end of the season, there's more value in keeping Holden than there is in adding a 5th

But if it's apparent they won't be doing so by the TDL, this should be an easy "yes" from them.

Dadonov had a bad game in one preseason game … can you wait until they play real games before saying he’s bad lol

As someone who watched a full season in Ottawa, he's bad

He might not be the best two way guy, but he regularly pots ~25 goals which is nothing to sniff at.

Not a bad idea at all, but I think the Avs will want to be frugal with how much cap they commit to the bottom 6 next season. It may not be a lot but $1.7m is still $700k more than a standard ~$1m vet 4th line deal

I totally agree... Except you can't have more than 1 of those guys on a contending team. They mess with the mindset of the other players. Habs now have 3 apparently... Drouin, Hoffman, Dadonov...

I just don't see him as a 4th liner. He had 29 points last season on the absolute worst team in the league. 13 goals. He's just entering his prime. He should cost 2.5-3M. He's gonna have another great year I bet and validate himself even more.

But the most crucial thing is, he stepped up in the playoffs.

Yeah for sure, I agree. The Avs don't have any forwards like that now though. Having one pure sniper who can pull a goal out of nothing like Burakovsky or Dadonov do is useful for a team as well for tight games.

The Avs are also loaded with two-way forwards on every line so there would be plenty of insulation for a forward like Dadonov no matter what line he'd be on.

That's fair. I don't doubt his value and I think you're right. I just don't think the Avs will be able to squeeze him in without having to sacrifice other core pieces of the roster - which they'll probably already have to do even without adding Evans.

Also I don't see why Hughes would sell a player like that when he's still got 3 years left. If he's as valuable as you are saying then Hughes would ask for a return of a 1st or more than a 2nd which would make it even more unfeasible for the Avs who don't have many assets as it is.

Evans has 2 goals in the 1st period tonight. This player is so much better than the Habs and the fans give him credit for.

3 years of retention? Will be pricey. We only get 3 retentions...
