Good deal, Allen has been a solid 1B and will be our starter for most likely the full duration of the contract

Fair deal. We’re now extending him to be a starter for a few years, so he’ll need to make starter money. And the term is nicely tailored to the team’s goalie prospect development.

Goaltending is still the team's weakest position and it's a good move only if they can find a 1A.

Health is an issue for Allen. He would be ok if he played around 30 games maximum. When his work load gets heavy, the quality of his play isn't the same, he get injured and the team's goaltending drops 2 notches.

This is a bit steep but I like it. The team absolutely loves Allen and he's the unsung leader of the locker room. He's also gonna have to deal with an insane workload over the next two years with no one ready to take over. Again, I don't see any harm in throwing an extra million for someone who wants to be here and lead the team through a rebuild.

We live in an era where unproven goalies gets multi-year, multi-million dollars deals for 30 games of good play (Driedger, Husso, Petersen) with the hopes of them being a full starter someday. I don't blame the team for sticking with a known entity.

We are not trying to win now. Allen can’t stay healthy because they ain’t giving him a break. He plays every games until he gets injured. We don’t need a 1A goaltender, we need to complete the rebuilt. Fair contract

I had him getting 2 years at 4M
He completely deserve it
He’s been good since he joined the Habs
If Forsberg as a good deal, doesn’t mean others have a bad one

Agreed. League wide it’s not the greatest deal. But Montreal is paying him for the intangibles he brings. Plus they can afford it for the next few years.

MTL is rebuilding no question but you still want to ice a competitive roster and Allen does that. Plus this allows them to insulate Cayden Primeau (if they still believe he can be a 1A/1B) for the next two seasons.

Smart move to keep Allen around IMO, slight over pay but nothing crazy

They aren't paying him to be a backup. He's the team's starting goaltender for the foreseeable future.

Good Deal for the rebuild. I expected this.

Sync's well with Primeau. He can ween out Montembault and send him to the AHL.

If Primeau can't overtake Allen as a clear cut #1. Hopefully Dobes & Dichow are showing promise down the line.

Everything should be well aligned with the end of the rebuild.

Price is a cheerleader in the crowd now, you should see him in a mini skirt, he looks good.

I was okay with the deal, until I realized it was an extension. You didn't need to sign this deal. It's not like he's expected to be the goalie of the future.

I mean, they did need to sign this deal, or one like it, because they need a goalie.

He's the goalie of our short term future. All rebuilders usually sign veteran goalies who can lead and be solid in net.
