Silly to trade NHL Dman Carrick for nothing. Borgman needs at least a year in the AHL to get used to North American. With that cap room, Leafs can do much better than Laich at centre. Williams money could be better spend at a position of need.

a 4th rounder isnt nothing... maybe get a third?? i just think hes not in the long term plans....

and if i know Lou he will use that cap room eventually for a pick or a prospect,

re:Laich, anyone that would command 2+million for 4th line centre would want term too most likely and i think that might screw up flexibility for the new contracts coming in 2018-19 (same for the short term with Williams)

Well he might be not be in the long term plans, but the fact is you need to have a starting lineup with NHL Dman. At at Carrick's minimal cost, he stays a Leafs.
But you sign Williams and Laich even though you admit they aren't in the Leafs long term plans.shakes head
