If I at gunpoint was forced to trade Leon and Connor against my will

Created by: Connor_McJesus_97
Team: 2022-23 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 2, 2022
Published: Oct. 2, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We finally have a good team aswell now so let's make sure we can keep it that way

Again I understand that sens fans would feel like they would be better off not making that trade just like isles fans but from the Oilers point of view this is what you could probably expect. I understand that the true value of Leon and Connor is probably higher but it would be impossible to make that trade happen. At least Islanders gets a true franchise forward and Ottawa aswell.

I tried to increase the depth here with a very nice defenseman in Pulock and Barzal and Stutzle are young promising centers that will never come close to the greatness of Leon and Connor but they should be good enough for us here. Also we have loads of 1st rd picks to have fun with ;) That has now been used to get Varlamov, Dumba and Toews and they will all be insane depth player to have

Again this is just for fun of course it should not get takes seriously. But I do think Oilers can keep on with what they got going on without going to crumbles.
Trades
1.
EDM
  1. Barzal, Mathew ($3,500,000 retained)
  2. Pulock, Ryan
  3. Wahlstrom, Oliver ($119,167 retained)
  4. 2023 1st round pick (NYI)
  5. 2024 1st round pick (NYI)
  6. 2025 1st round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
I understand that isles fans would not do it from their point of view but this is honestly what a player like McDavid would cost. Honestly think some people would think McDavid is worth more which is fair. From the Oilers point of view you're getting exactly everything you could have asked for here to make sure the team will still be good. At least islanders should enjoy a good puck moving defenseman like Barrie
2.
EDM
  1. Sanderson, Jake
  2. Stützle, Tim
  3. 2023 1st round pick (OTT)
  4. 2024 1st round pick (OTT)
  5. 2025 2nd round pick (OTT)
3.
EDM
  1. Toews, Jonathan
Additional Details:
They don't even have to retain on him. Also it will be an insane luxury to have him on the 4th line. That depth is just crazy
CHI
  1. Ryan, Derek
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (EDM)
4.
EDM
  1. Dumba, Matt
Additional Details:
To get rid of him as he probably won't stay for 2 1st picks is really nice for the Wild. Now the depth will be even more insane as Dumba is way too good to play on the 3rd pairing lol
MIN
  1. 2023 1st round pick (EDM)
  2. 2024 1st round pick (EDM)
5.
EDM
  1. Varlamov, Semyon ($2,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Islanders already have a world class goaltender so Varlamov will do no good on their team. For the Oilers you now have a goalie one too punch of Campbell-Varlamov
NYI
  1. 2023 1st round pick (NYI)

in terms of value, it probably is not too far off for McDavid. He is worth an INSANE amount, and it would need multiple grade-A pieces and picks for him. Like it would be hard to overpay fpr him

Like you said, it wouldnt make sense for the team.

It’s absolutely an overpay lol. Dude wants three firsts plus Barzal, Wally and Pulock. Adding Barrie on top of that makes it even worse.

Also Ottawa would be insane to trade Stutzle, Sanderson AND draft capital for Leon….

Stutzle outproduced Draisailt in his D+1 and D+2 years. I'm not saying he'll be better, but the difference is definitely not Sanderson and two 1st round picks. Ottawa easily declines.

its McDavid, automatic franchise altering guy. Hall of famer, first ballot, 25 years old and entering his prime. You make this move, having an elite defense and top 3 goalie in the NHL. All we would need is to clear some cap and then sign some guys. I am not saying we should, but any McDavid trade would need this value

Sens don't do this. Ottawa's giving way more value long term

My advice would be to make the gunman prove his gun was loaded first.

It’s not an elite defense if it had Tyson Barrie.

The Isles trade causes more harm than good. Is McDavid going to have to do everything himself? You weakened the defense tremendously by moving Pulock.

Both islanders and Senators pass big time.

And on what planet is Matt Dumba worth 2 1st round picks? shakes head

And Semyon Varlamov already said no to Edmonton, They're on his 16 team no trade list. He's not waiving to co there.

This would be bad for isles. Gretzky won zero Cups in LA Edmonton won 1 more without him. Giving up that many assets no matter how great the player for 1 player is moronic

Barzal+3 1sts is enough and probably something they wouldn't do. There's no point in them weakening their team and also paying the hefty price to acquire McDavid. Realistically, if McDavid does get traded he's going to get a lot probably but not Barzal+3 1sts. Now if he's being traded at gun point he's fetching far less 😂, maybe Barzal+ Wahlstrom so it doesn't look like coercion.

Lol, that's all I got. Oh and Unless Wild look like a unstoppable team this year, they definitely take this deal for Dumba.

Take that deal and run. Even if they're later picks, that's an insane value for 1 year of Dumba.

No team in the league can afford McDavid without completely gutting out all of their assets.

Minnesota accepts. Oh, and we also would be interested in the McDavid/Draisaitl sweepstakes. wink We've never had a franchise center....

It's more the 20 years old signed for 9 years vs the 27 years old signed for 3 years that annoys me.
