Trading your 1st OA pick before he has even played a single regular season game seems weird to me but what do I know

That trade is so bad for the habs. Rangers would be real happy though.

I'd much rather have Lafreniere. Laf was looking generational predraft and is like 20 years old. I'd still take the bet he'll have a better career

Seth Jones isn't waiving for Montreal or any Canadian team for that matter, And Kyle Davidson sure as hell isn't eating $16,000,000 on Seth Jones either. Especially not for those pieces.

I don’t know about “generational”…he was best at time in a so-so draft year, but He didn’t have the pre-draft pedigree of a McDavid, Matthews, MacKinnon, Hughes, Dahlin, Stamkos, Tavares, etc

Canes pass. No interest in Dvorak, and are not paying to fix the Habs mistake

@habslife stop trading montembault to the ducks claiming waivers. Just demote him to the AHL, there is zero impact to the cap, stop bringing the Ducks into your ACGMs for that.

Anything has to be better than the mess in Chicago, right now.

With the constant exception of the Coyotes, a trade to practically any other team would be more worthwhile.

And I like Chicago. Just is what it is.

I think he had similar to Hughes, Dahlin, Stamkos. A step behind Tavares and MacKinnon and Matthews. McDavid was the top.

Why on gods green earth would you trade Slaf for Laf?

He's played 135 NHL games and has like 50 points. He's been given top 6 roles on NYR, playing alongside good talent and struggled to produce. I'm not saying he's a bust, but what makes you think he'll produce BETTER on a weaker offensive team like Montreal? Just keep slaf.

Laf pre-draft was ranked in the tier just under mackinnon and matthews.
Laf absolutely had a very high pre-draft pedigree. He had a great D-1 WJC, he was dominant in the Q, and he was ranked as a potential "superstar".
Laf post draft has absolutely strugged, but has shown an ability to score 5v5, and considering the overall ice time he's gotten the rangers aren't moving him without a huge unprecedented haul coming back.

He was most certainly touted as a generational talent. Ill tell you 1 thing though, you described slaf perfectly "he was best at time in a so-so draft year"
