No idea how Woodcroft will structure the lines, but I do know that he looks at chemistry not cap hit. All I'm saying is that Holloway is one of the top-9 forwards and since he reminds me of Taylor Hall I want him playing with Draisaitl. I liked those guys together.

Oh, and FYI that 3rd line is probably better than most team's 2nd lines. Both Nugent-Hopkins and Hyman play PP and PK, so I'm not concerned about their ice time.

im looking at hyman who just had a season high for goals with 27. and had great playoffs, why change something that is clearly working

I don't think you’d be concerned but they would, I also would love to see what happens if someone is injured on that 3rd line & misses a few games without being placed on LTIR & you need a replacement, $167 Ain’t helping much

I'm not changing anything though. Hyman played 500 minutes on the 1st line last season, 300 on the 2nd line and 300 on the 3rd line. Woodcroft will move guys around as needed, but in TC so far Kane & Yamamoto have been glued to McDavid, and I wasn't happy with Hyman's results with Draisaitl last year, so I've started him on the 3rd line (which isn't really a 3rd line due to Edmonton's forward depth) for opening night. It's not a big deal.

Well actually edmonton would be plying 7 D and sitting 1 forward.

Nugent-Hopkins is already on the 3rd line in TC, and mostly played on the 3rd line since Woodcroft took over. Due to Edmonton's forward depth 3rd line doesn't have the same connotation as with most other teams. Especially since, as I've already explained, both guys get lots of special teams time, so TOI isn't an issue.

For instance, even though Nugent-Hopkins spent just 20 minutes in the top-6 under Woodcroft in the last 38 games, he still played ~18 minutes per night in that span, good for 5th among forwards.

As for the cap, the whole point of LTIR is to get as close as possible on opening night so you can maximize the cap relief.

They would absolutely put hyman on the 3rd line if it meant they could roll 3 lines. The 4th line isn't really a line on Edmonton, it is just 2 other players that get mixed into the other lines. Mcdavid and Draisaitl play 20-22 minutes and all the other forwards play 12-18 Min. If they had a traditional 4th line the guys would play 3 shifts a night.

They have forwards and defensemen in the AHL that they have purposely slow played for such an event.

I Don’t get the logic though, who is being sent down to make a call up?, I’m saying they Don’t get any cap relief for being on LTIR they are just placed on IR so there is 0 cap relief to allow a move to be made without waivers unless the players moved are Broberg or Holloway If i’m correct

that's basically my ideal roster. i hope Holloway plays where you have him, but i doubt that will actually be the case. guess we'll find out soon enough!

You do realize that season starting roster is not the same as in season right? Holloway will be on the season starting roster but probably gets sent down to the minors afterwards. The players on their ELCs that are likely to play need to be on season starting roster so their bonuses don't count against the cap. Second day of the season edmonton doesn't care about being 1 million over the cap they will spend next year's cap raise even. it is also likely edmonton unloads someone like foegele at the trade deadline and solves everything then.

The CBA allows for Emergency Recall in the case a team gets a short term injury that needs a replacement.
