Let's hope, you never know with Goalies like this have bounced around a lot, Forsberg is another example really.

Also, overpay for Chukyurn. I worry about the injury problems with him as well, I would like to see him play 20 games in the regular season first.
I know it isn't the same injury but I fear that her could turn into a Ryan Ellis situation here if he gets another major injury.

I know. I think this is the most I'd be comfortable giving up. With the emergence of Motte and Crookshank... I'm also worried about Greig's longevity with how many injuries he's racking up.

My honest assumption, Ottawa will throw a bunch of prospects + picks + Zaitsev at Zona for Chychrun.

They don’t have a lot of back to backs to start the year so they’ll be fine . Also Sogard can pinch in here and there

Sanderson, Pinto and Greig are just not available for Chychrun

That would be my proposal :

Zaitsev, Nikita
Brännström, Erik
Järventie, Roby
2023 1st round pick (OTT)
2024 2nd round pick (OTT)

Been kind of meh on Soogard this preseason. Hoping for a strong showing in BV.

Hard agree. This proposal is the max I'd be willing to pay.

I haven't seen a anything saying Greig is unavailable. And if Ottawa really wants him they should make him available. The above trade is quite fair IMO

This is awful. Moving Zaitsev alone will be costly. You don’t get good players for cap dumps. If you aren’t including pinto or Sanderson then switch brannstrom out for Grieg.

I personally wouldn't do Greig for Chychrun 1 for 1. This will become more clear in the future.

It's the same proposal as in OP but Jarventie + 2nd instead of Greig and MINUS the 3rd coming from Arizona

Sens are also very high on Jarventie, like the above tweet says

I'm 99.9% certain the Sens wouldn't do Pinto or Greig for Chychrun. They are high on their own stuff, and for good reason

Mann threaten to quit his job if Dorion didn't take Pinto in the 2019 draft. It's probably a similar story for Greig, like "try to trade him for fun"

You clearly don't appreciate how good Chychrun is if you think Grieg could get him 1 for 1. Also "doesn't want to trade" doesn't mean anything. Vegas didn't want to trade Krebs either

Jack Eichel... Of course if somebody of that caliber becomes available and it fits everything then it changes everything, it goes without saying

I always end up being forced to repeat things I was saying decades ago, sometimes with people who weren't even born back there. Circular arguments.

But Chychrun isn't Eichel and isn't even a natural RHD to begin with. I would never pay the high price for him. Of course Dorion can opt to do another Duchene-like trade so it can blow up in his face all over again, I don't have any control over that.

It's not that Chychrun is not good or anything but I have been very high on Greig for like 2 years now. I know what I am doing, same thing I have done in the past with Karlsson, Lehner, Stone, Batherson, Pinto, etc and other players from other teams. Been projecting NHL players for 2 decades, improved my ratio a lot over time.

Chychrun's had surgery on what now? Both knees, a shoulder, a hand and an ankle?
And he's averaging about 50-55 games a seasons...
I'm not giving up a 1st + Greig.
Not even considering Pinto or Sanderson.
If a 1st, plus Jarventie + Merilainen, isn't enough... so be it.
Let another team overpay.
